LOW SODIUM wonton soup recipie anyone?

So I went to my favorite chinese food place today and ordered the wonton soup for the first time. It was a party in my mouth! SOOOO GOOD!!! And now, I cannot get it out of my head. It had white onions, cabbage, celery, broccoli, and the wontons in it. It also seemed to have a hint of mint in it, too. MMMM

I can't get it out of my head now, so I'm searching for a recipie with low sodium (my dad can't have a lot of sodium due to his heart) and the recipies that claim "low sodium" are 1000 mg or higher. YUCK

I know there has to be a healthier choice out there

So I googled this there are a ton of different wonton soup recipes on this one site.  Unfortunately I've never cooked any of them.  I haven't had wonton soup since I became a vegetarian 16 years ago. I used to love it though.

That sounds yummy.  Could you use Bouillon cubes to cut out the sodium? I love sodium so I am not much help!

Go scratch.  The broth is what you want to make of it.  Use whatever broth or stock you like.  As for the wontons, my family has always kept it simple.  Ground pork, with shrimp that's been pounded a bit, green onions, black pepper and dash of soy sauce and sesame oil.  spoon that into wonton wrappers and close up.  Pop them into boiling water for a few minutes or until they float to the surface, dunk them in an ice bath and then put them into a strainer to drain.  I like chinese broccoli or bok choy in my wonton soup and egg noodles.  Good luck!  I have batches of frozen home made wontons in my freezer as a go to meal when I'm too tired to cook.

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: LOW SODIUM wonton soup recipie anyone? : This have SO much sodium in them.  They do have low sodium varieties though.  "Low sodium" for soups and broths is still very high, though.
