Not Engaged Yet

Bladder Update

I went to the doctor and ended up sitting in the lobby for 35 minutes having to pee like crazy. Then I got to do the normal check in, pee in a cup, answer questions, and 2 hours later I can go. But my sample came back as normal again.

So now I have to get my bowels checked out some time, but for him I have to go get blood work done, get an IVP done, and then also do some kind of urodynamics testing. All I know about that is that I have to sit in some kind of weird chair with something strapped to my thighs and I have to pee until I feel like I'm done and they're going to see how much I have left in my bladder I guess.

So no answers and a butt load of doctor visits to come (along with their fees).

Yeah, I was pretty frustrated when I left. It makes it worse that I have no idea what all these tests are or what they're for or what he's thinking it could be. He used a bunch of technical terms and at one point I literally just went, "I'm sorry, but what?" ... I have to fast all day tomorrow too. Liquid diet only and then I get to drink some yummy magnesium citrate.
Boo. :( PM me if you want to talk about it. I went through a lot of testing and then physical therapy for IC so I know your pain (literally)! Hugs.

I'm just freaking out that I'm eventually going to end up getting some kind of scope or I'll have to pee in front of someone or that I'll have to go so bad so they can do their test and I'll lose control and wet myself or something.

I just read a description of what my urodynamics test is going to consist of. And it's not pleasant. This would probably be TMI if it had already happened to me, but here's what I have to look forward to:

"the nurse will put a small catheter in your bladder after you urinate. Electrode patches will be placed around your rectal area. A catheter will also be placed in your rectum for the testing. Once the catheters are in place, sterile water will enter your bladder slowly through the catheter, just as urine enters the bladder from the kidneys. During this filling the nurse will ask you questions about sensations you experience and may ask you to cough or bear down. This information is recorded on a graph and/or video for your doctor."

    Frown

It makes the fact that I can't eat anything except jello and liquid soup tomorrow a breeze.
In Response to Re: Bladder Update : Eeek.  That sounds.... unpleasant.  Is this from the UTI you suspected a while ago?  Are you still having the same symptoms?  I hope they figure out what's wrong with you soon!
    Posted by yaga13
Actually, they said it wasn't a UTI. All of my tests have come back negative, but yeah, they are the same symptoms. They come and go every few weeks with varying degrees of difficulty/frequency in between. Never any pain. Just sudden urge/frequency (15x a day) and not emptying.
