  • Ha.  FI and I actually got into a relevant argument about this kind of stuff the other night.  If he were to plan the wedding by himself, it would be completely traditional.  He always rolls his eyes when I talk about my dislike of certain WR things (like the garter toss, the dad giving away the bride, veils, etc) because he thinks I'm "overthinking" things.  I, on the other hand, think it's important to understand the meaning behind a tradition and then make an educated decision on whether to perpetuate it.

    I think I read somewhere that that story about the garter toss is a myth, though.  Either way, it's still a symbol for consummation, and I do not need my 90-year-old grandmother to see that.
