Update on FI's job situation

You may remember that I requested some vibes last week re. a very promising job interview my BF went on just a few days before he became my FI. Well, I come back to you today with news, and the news is good. He was invited for a second interview, went to it yesterday, and was offered the position! He has to wait for his drug test and background check to clear (required apparently because the company does contract work for the federal government), which should happen sometime next week, and then he's in! Better yet, they offered him a higher salary than he was expecting to get, which was already a pretty substantial increase from his current job.

This could not possibly have come at a better time. He was so upset about his work friends getting laid off last week (he came home that night and actually cried telling me about it...the first time I've ever seen him cry since we've been together), and stressed out over having to take on extra work, not to mention the possibility of taking pay/benefit cuts or being laid off himself in the future. This news is a HUGE weight off his shoulders. It will also make budgeting for this wedding a whole lot easier. So I can quit having "wedding reception costs what?!" freakouts and relax a little. XD

So thanks to everyone who contributed thoughts and positive energy last week - it paid off big time!

That's great! My BF's job requires a background check too (technically, he even has security clearance). For the security clearance, he had to list everyone he lives with (including me) and most of his relatives - we all got checked too, lol.

I say because I work with kids (I'm a teacher) and he works with the gov't, we'd be the most qualified babysitters ever. Some serious background checks here!

LOL yeah, it's like that over here, too. FI used to be a substitute teacher, on top of his fancy new government security stuff. And I'm a social worker. I wish I had a dollar for every background check I've had to do. XD
