I'm a big fan of swing songs at weddings, so maybe "Jump Jive an' Wail" by the Brian Setzer Orchestra?

And these are definitely my favorite songs to dance to at weddings (because everyone usually sings along):

    Sweet Caroline - Neil Diamond
Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations
Bennie and the Jets - Elton John

My sister and BIL played 'It Takes Two (to make everything alright)' by Rob Base. It was a hit!

I'm also a big fan of Kenny Chesney's 'All Because Two People Fell in Love' and Etta James' 'At Last'.

Oooh oooh! Bobby Darin! Beyond the Sea!
  • edited December 2011

"Don't Stop Believing" is on the list...not sure why it's not appearing on that one...?

Again, I didn't nix it. My mother did. Seeing as her and my dad are paying for a portion for this shindig, I had to respect their wishes.

Though, I've heard rumors that "I'm On a Boat" may figure prominently into my bachelorette party...lol

Definitely not "Like a Virgin" - your grandparents might faint!  Haha!  That one would be on my "Do Not Play" list!

BTW, I love that you're playing "I've Got a Feeling" by The Black Eyed Peas - that song was on repeat during the two roadtrips we took from DC to Miami in 2009 (to move him down, and then to move me down).  I love it, since it's now a reminder of those moments.  He hates it because he heard it too much!

    '80s
Come on Eileen (Dexy's Midnight Runners, but I think the Save Ferris cover is better)
Any Way You Want It - Journey

    Dance
Evacuate the Dance Floor - Cascada (this is the song in the Xbox Dance Central commercial)

    Oldies
One Fine Day - The Chiffons
Twist and Shout - The Beatles

Also, if it helps, the DJ I'm using maintains a database of their most requested songs by category:
    http://www.eastwood-entertainment.djintelligence.com/music/requested.asp
If you click a song, it will launch iTunes to play a sample. (Part of the reason we picked this company was their online tools.)

I love your taste in music <3

We're gonna have a bunch of the Vitamin String Quartet covers playing for our wedding too. I think the wedding party entrance is gonna be the VSQ version of "Wonderful Tonight". Then my entrance is gonna be the slow melody from Gustav Holst's "Jupiter" (also known as England's third national anthem..... but I'm hoping people don't recognize it as much. It's such a beautiful melody).

ETA: "My" song. Love it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEGnhOHW8ko

Oh, for Madonna, "into the Groove," "Borderline" or "Isla Bonita" are good choices.

Having "I'm on a boat" as your do not play reminds me of high school. FI DJ'ed/hosted a Halloween party and played Wait (The Whisper Song) which probably wasn't the best song to play at a Christian school dance. FFIL was collecting money/bouncer so when he heard it, he walked up to FI and told him to "Don't play that shiit on my equipment or I'm pack up my shiIt and taking it home."

Maybe Ying Yang Twins- Wait (The Whisper Song) should be on your DO NOT PLAY list.

I love "Book of Love".  I really want to use it somwhere in my ceremony.

And I was going to tell you that you needed more Journey, but then you said Don't Stop Believin' is suppsed to be there, so hmmmm...

How about John Mellencamp?  "Hurt So Good" or "Jack and Diane"?
