Not Engaged Yet

My Man is coming home

So I wrote around April (which is consequently, the most recent time I saw my man in person). Complicated story but in the last 8 months I have only seen him in person for 10 days.

If you don't remember, or haven't read my previous post, this is the guy who I have been with for 4 years 2.5 months and who's folks gave us marriage counseling worksheets. LOL There is a full story posted here, if you are interested to see the whole thing.

So fast foward through a long 6 months of skype and phone calls while he was on a fuels crew in the grand tetons working  on fires. I am VERY excited he is coming home!! And VERY proud of everything he has done. He will be here on Oct 31 and I can't wait!!!!!!!

With this homecomming,  the engagement lingers. He told me before he left in Feb (for financial reasons). that he wants the proposal to be a surprise then when I saw him in April, nothing. And since he spent the summer working, I can only assume he now has enough money to buy a ring. ( No I am not expecting anything  super fancy. I actually gave him my claddah before he left in case he wanted to propose before he could get a ring but I have a hunch he will want to pickout one :)). Anyway, I am excited for him to come home and really hoping he proposes soon!!

I am graduating law school in April and taking the BAR exam in July and I had hoped to get married while I was waiting for the BAR results, but time is ticking on that one lol I know that whatever he does, whenever he does it, it will be magnificent and that I should be patient. But I am not a patient person and waiting this long has been hard enough lol I will obviously keep waiting, but I hope he will propose soon!

I'm not sure if I saw your earlier post but why do you two not get to see each other a lot?

Yay!  So glad your man is coming home!  Just be sure to concentrate on spending awesome time with him!  The engagement will likely come eventually, but it's not going to make or break your relationship.  Enjoy this time together!
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

Quick question: You said you're taking the bar in July and hope to get married while awaiting the results. Are you planning on putting your wedding together WHILE studying? When I was studying for it, I couldn't even think of anything else, much less planning a wedding. Just a thought... If you can do it though more power to you! :)

This is my first post - other than on the intro thread - and I'm a little nervous, but I'm jumping on this one... I hope that's okay. :-)

My BF also works on the road - I saw him Labor Day Weekend, and I won't see him again until Christmas, so I feel your pain! It's definitely a hard life, but I think it makes us better - we HAVE to communicate, and being away from each other so much makes us really enjoy the time we have together. You must be very excited to have him home... I already have a countdown to Christmas! Enjoy having him home!!

Hi all thanks for the comments. I am so excited for him to come home!!!

He was living with me on and off here in CA but he was unable to find a job here so he moved back home in Feb b/c I could not afford to support him on my  student loans. Then he got a great full time summer job doing the fuels crew/firefighting int he Grand Tetons. SO I went to visit him Montana for Easter before he left from MT to WY. That Job went from May to the end of September. That job was in WY and he was living in a cabin that didn't have internet so even to skype he had to drive an hour.  He had phone but we ended up losing contact for days (at one point weeks) at a time b/c he was called out on a fire and had no cell service. I am a full time law student and could not take the time to go visit him. And he couldn't get here to visit me b/c he was working the whole time. So that's why I was not able to see him. He is spending the month catching up with friends and family and being with his sister for her Birthday. He now has his ticket to come to CA on the 31st!!!! :)

We have been doing long distance on and off for years. Even in college we were 3 hours away for 2 years b/c I was still at school in WA and he was graduated and in MT. So I am no stranger to long distance, but this was the longest stretch! So I am more than thrilled that he at least has some savings he can use while he continues to look for a job here. And that I get to be with him!! :)

As far as taking the Bar and planning a wedding. That dream is slowly fading. I initially thoguht if he proposed in April I could have the bulk of the planning done by the time I begin studying for the Bar Exam in April 2012. I have looked into some stuff but I really want to wait for the proposal before I plow forward with the planning. So if he waits for a while when he gets back, I will probably give up that goal lol By the time I graduate we will have been together for about 5 years, so Im dying to move forward but this law school thing has to come first hahaa
