STD Opinions!

So I know we're still a year out, but FI has been antsy to get started on designing our Save the Dates. We haven't done our E-Pics yet, so any of the picture options are just kind of "eh". I do have a couple possibilities, so this is my first try at designing one. They will be postcard style. We're not super formal, so we don't really want the STD to be. So some questions:

1) Do you think I should wait until we have E-pics to have more picture options? (we probably won't be doing them until Spring).

2) Do you have any cool font suggestions? I am horrible at choosing fonts!

3) Do you like the color or B&W picture version better?

4) What do you think about the swirls? Without them I felt it was a little plain.

5) Any other suggestions?

I would. The pictures cute, and you guys look so so happy! But, at first glance it looks like yo'ure choking him or something. Maybe it's just me.

I like the font and I like the color version much better. Leave the swirls, I think.

1) I don't think you need to wait until you take e-pics, but I would choose a picture that is a little more...neat. This one is cute and all, but there's too much going on - that string around your necks and that jacket (?) over your FI's arm for example.

2) Dafont and freefontspace are my favorite places to get free fonts. Don't use a bunch of different fonts (I like 2) and make sure they "go" together. If you don't want it to be formal, you could pick a cool not-so-scripty fun font for your names and/or "Save the Date" and then use something simple and legible for the information.

3) In this case, I like the color.

4) The swirls are not my personal style. What if you made the middle section bigger so that the black stripes aren't as wide. Or just leave the swirls if you like them.

5) To be clear, while I don't think you need to wait for e-pics I definitely would NOT send out the STDs soon. I'm not sure if that was your plan, but 6 months is more than enough time for a typical wedding. And for the picture, just ask a friend or family member to take a cute picture of you guys over the upcoming holidays!

No, we wouldn't be sending them out anytime soon, FI is just excited to design them...lol. Yeah, the picture is kind of awkward (He was giving me a piggyback ride on stairs). The problem is, it is really hard to get a good picture of FI, he has the worst fake smile in the world...lol. So finding a good picture will definitely be challenging. It's a good thing we have time to get a good one

You could always just tickle him right before the camera goes off, lol. That's what I do.  And it usually makes me laugh too because I'm expecting his reaction, lol. As long as he doesn't do some weird pose in response, you should be good, lol.

I like the swirls but I agree with a different picture. Doesn't have to be professional, but as was suggestion, can just be a nice shot that someone takes of you both. I also like the black and white. I don't have suggestions for fonts though.

I think FI is eager to design the save the dates and invitations. He's a graphic designer, so it's right up his alley. That's one less thing for me to do! And since we're also not getting married until October, it's perfect because he's a huge procrastinator, so if he starts them now, we can add e-pics in the early spring and he'll have them done just in time, lol. : )
