On August 2nd, I posted about "managing expections" because I had gone ring shopping with my bf and he had brought up wedding details numeous times, but he hadn't actually asked me to marry him yet.

I was counting on your ladies to bring me back to reason, which you did.

Well, this afternoon, we took a trip to OBX (the Outer Banks in North Carolina) and he proposed!  An interesting detail is that he had the ring since August.  He has had it on him multiple times since then, but never went through with asking.

Last night, I tapped him on the side of the leg during Thanksgiving dinner and was positive there was a square box in his pocket.  I almost posted here about it last night, too!  Sure enough, he says he had it on him and almost asked in front of his entire family (thank goodness he didn't...I don't know if I'd like that!). 

Unfortunately, I don't post enough to know everyone well, so perhaps this isn't all that exciting.  However, know that I have read this forum for months (I guess I'm a lurker) and have really appreciated the advice given here and have definitely enjoyed the humor and sarcasm!

    Posted by JMM4208[/QUOTE]It's funny...we went down for something work related for him and then stopped at a dog store we heard a lot about.  The dog store wasn't all that impressive and I didn't really get Duck, which didn't seem to have as much of a downtown as the beach towns I'm used to on Cape Cod.  I figured we wouldn't be back to OBX...but now  we'll have to go back!  :)

    Oh, Congrats!! I love the ring and I love the Outer Banks (where exactly were you? I am obsessed with Wilmington and Wrightsville Beach).

    This is a little random...we went to lunch at a restaurant recommended by a loca.  Afterwards, we wanted to just quickly put our feet in the sand.  As you probably know, there are areas where you can't park on the street.  Essentially, beach access is for people who own/rent homes in the area. 

    In light of the time of year, we decided to just risk it and park on the side of a street and run up to the beach.  We picked a spot where there was a home for sale, figuring that would be an excuse for stopping.
