Motion sickness bracelet

Has anyone ever tried one? Do they work?

I get motion sickness really easily and was considering one, but haven't ever known anyone that tried it, so wanted to see what you guys thought.

Any suggestions on any specific bracelets?

I've tried Dramamine, but I have to take 1/4 of a pill or it puts me to sleep and even with 1/4 I feel so sluggish. It's not an issue day to day, but FMIL was talking about it and we're going to be going to the mountains for our HM, so I was just curious to hear if you ladies know anything about it.

I haven't tried the bracelet but BF uses ginger capsules for his motion sickness. He says they work really well.

My dad and I both get motion sickness. His can be debilitating when it hits him. His doctor prescribed him Antivert and it's really helped him he said. I've never used any of the bracelets though.

Hmm, I've never heard of that. Are there any noticeable side effects? It'd be great if it worked like Dramamine without putting me to sleep.

I've used Ginger Gravol (not sure if you have it in the US), and it's great. I don't notice any side effects, whereas regular Gravol knocks me out cold. BF's sister also used it all the time when she spent a year working on a sailing vessel.

I tried using them for morning sickness, but they didn't work very well. Someone suggested them to me claiming they worked wonders for her. I found them tight and uncomfortable but for 10 bucks, they are worth a shot!

My friend used those bracelets when we went fishing. She said they work for her.

I just use Dramamine, low dose or whatever so as to not get drowsy. I remember I took the regular dosage once in college when I wasn't feeling well and I wanted to visit another college with my friends. It hit me like a ton of bricks and it was the weirdest experience at the time. We went out to dinner with a large group and I could barely will myself not to put my head down on the table and sleep. I had never taken it and not had a 6+ car ride ahead of me to sleep through. Hehe those people must have thought I was so weird.

Ok, I'll check out the ginger pills. Sounds like a good option.

Jen: I took Dramamine when I went to Colorado and it kept me from getting sick, but it kinda ruins the vacation when you are at such a pretty boulder garden (Garden of the Gods) and all you want to do is search for a place to sit down, lol. I'm so happy I wasn't in charge of driving.

Mama: I might check out the bracelet too. Was there a metal bracelet or one of the kind with the pressure point ball on a fabric bracelet?

The bracelets didn't work for me but the Ginger capsules worked pretty well for me too for regular nausea. My BF reccomends Nux Vomica, which I think you can get in supplement stores. I'm not sure if it's specifically for motion sickness or just nausea in general.

The thing with the bracelets that makes me hesitant to get them is that you have to have it on a specific pressure point and it seems like it'd be easy to misplace them.

I did just find another product to help get rid of motion sickness called "Queasy Pops", lol. That sounds ...interesting.

Last time I went to the amusement park, I took a Dramamine and tried some bracelets (called Sea-Bands--got 'em at Target). I don't know which helped me, but I was okay. The ones at Target are cheap (about $7 for a pair), so it's worth a try.

I get nauseous because of my food allergies and I work with a patient population that (of course) has a good deal of nausea. The ginger chews by The Ginger People work really well and taste amazing if you're big on ginger like I am.

Seven dollars isn't bad for a bracelet. And the chewies sound good too. I don't know if I like ginger. I don't think I've ever really had it unless it was mixed with a ton of other things. It definitely sounds worth a try though. Thanks for all the tips, ladies!

Not for me...that's one of the things they like advertising...you don't get tired like you do with the other OTC motion sickness drugs. I've even had wine with it and nothing happened.

</div><div>I usually get car-sick (not so much on airplanes) and was on a 10-hour road-trip with my former boyfriend and his family from Edmonton, Alberta, to Summerland, British Columbia. We don't have Gravol in the US (to my knowledge) but since FBF was a native of Canada, he recommended it. It had a... weird taste, but not bad. I didn't have a problem the entire trip, I definitely wish we had it here.</div>
