Engagement Lengths?

Re: Engagement Lengths?

    6 months and 6 days

Before we got engaged, we discussed that we both wanted a shorter engagement.  (He flat out asked me if I wanted to have a 17-month engagement like my best friend and I told him that there was no way.  He breathed a sigh of relief.)
If the Catholic church didn't require a 6-month wait, we could have done it sooner.  The day after he proposed, he brought up Septemeber.  I noted that my cousin's wedding was that month.  He retorted 'August?'  We decided on October due to Pre-Cana.

As far as vendors, we got married in a small town.  There was someone else using the church that day but it didn't matter.  (Someone DH went to school with.  They actually have the same birthday.  To make it even weirder, we were supposed to close on our houses the same day.)  Our reception site was not a traditional wedding site.

Budget.  I saved money where ever we could.  My MIL had other ideas (and backed it up with her checkbook.  If we made any offhand comments about wanting something, she made it possible.  Since a lot of the vendors were in her hometown, she would just go and pay the balances.  Yes, I hit the MIL jackpot and for even better reasons.  I love, love, love her.)  I am honestly not quite sure where our budget ended up.  I am scared to total it all up.  His mother thinks that our wedding was nothing pricewise compared to his sister's Napa wedding.  Estimating our total, I think we were about 50% less.

It depends on the couple and what kind of wedding they want.  A destination or small wedding shouldnt take long to plan or save for, in that case, a year or less.  I dont think an engagement should last for more than a year or two or it's just a very expensive ring.

I reported that poster for spamming.  When you take a look at the other posts, they are all spam.

Our engagement will probably 3 or 4 years, depending on when he actually proposes. There are alot of reasons for us to wait.

    1) We both want to be out of school. I will finnish in 2 but he is getting a masters so that adds another 2 years.

    2) Alot of my friends are on thier LDS missions and I want them to be there so we would have to wait at least 2 years for that.

    3) Finances.
