Cupcake for Breakfast... (Birthday thread)

So I'm eating a red-velvet cupcake with whipped vanilla icing and a buttercream center for breakfast cause it's my birthday! :)

So question of the day: what's your favorite, least favorite birthday, what would be the perfect birthday gift and why?

Favorite: when I turned 17 and all my close friends and I had a party that lasted well into the next day. We had sugar, energy drinks, food, games and we're all crazy so it was just amazingly fun! We even took over a local park with glow sticks at about 1am!

Least favorite: when my mother's friend decided that she wanted to ruin every part of my birthday cause she does NOT like me. I won't give detials cause some of it was really bad, but my best friend really wanted to punch that woman in the face many many times.

Best B-day Gift: Right now enough money to pay for bf and my college degrees, buy a house, pay off our parents debt, and travel the world. Eitehr that or another one of these cupcakes... this thing is so good!!!

Re: Cupcake for Breakfast... (Birthday thread)

  • Favorite: My 30th birthday a few weeks ago. It was a big party hosted by my BF, complete with my parents, brother, and friends flying in. It was held in my new house. The food (complete with a red velvet cake from the tiny bakery up the street) and socializing were amazing. I couldn't have asked for a more amazing birthday.

Least: My 21st. My grandmother passed away the day before my birthday. So I spent my 21st birthday in a car driving to Iowa with my mother. My other grandmother took me to a casino and bought me a beer. But that was the extent of my night. The next day I went to my grandmother's wake, where my aunt brought a big cookie cake. The funeral director said it was the first time he heard happy birthday sung at a wake.

Best gift ever: I'd say a ring, but since that didn't happen this year and i'm way to impatient to think it may happen next year, I'm going to go with a personal assistant. I've been dealing with the MD DMV all morning. I freaking hate moving.

First of all, Happy Birthday! Have another cupcake and enjoy your day. :)

Favorite: Last year, turning 30. SO and I went to a resort called Le Blanc in Cancun (seriously, check it out...it is amazing). He insisted that we stay up to midnight to celebrate and ordered a chocolate cake and a bottle of bubbly delivered to our room just after midnight. We spent the next day at the spa and by the pool then had a steak/lobster dinner by the beach that night. It was uber-romantic...it also didn't hurt that he told me that day that he had been looking for "something" for the last few years and that he knew that I "was his something" and he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me. I awwwwed at that.

Least: Turning 14. My grandmother (who raised me) had a stroke a few days before it so we "celebrated" in the hospital.

Best Gift: A life with SO and two healthy kids that have the best of the traits from both of us would be my ideal.

Favorite: 27th birthday when Danish Man took me on a road trip up the California coast line and we visited Hearst Castle at night. It was a like coming up on a fairy tale castle lit up at night. Too this very day I still remember the excitement from that trip.

Least: I can't really remember a least favorite one.

Best Bday gift: A new Audi TDI station car, but I would be really happy for a mastiff puppy.

ETA: Sorry I have such bad manners. Happy Birthday!
  • Man, I need to be looking forward to 30, apparently!!

Favorite: Turning 22. My now-BF and I were in San Fransisco for a work conference (read all-expense paid week-long trip to SF). It was a week and a half before he asked me to be his GF, and we were madly in love (you know how it is right when you start out? Yeah, it was like that). He's a Berkeley grad, and therefore knows all the best places in the Bay Area. We kicked the week off with my birthday in Berkeley, and then spent the week bumming around SF and the area, eating at the best restaurants (my mom paid for us to go to Chez Panisse for my birthday) and having a great time.

Least favorite: 21st. I was studying abroad in Scotland and hadn't really made any friends. I spent most of my birthday alone in the York train station in the freezing cold (it's an open-air train station) sobbing because I was so lonely.

Best gift: A ring :D But, hopefully, that will be before then, so I'll go with enough time for a frosty morning run followed by breakfast at my favorite local bakery (it's not actually a thing, but that's my ideal birthday, awesome trips excluded!).
  • IceBerry for lunch=It is my birthday too! Happy birthday to you!

Best: This one! Because it is today.

Worst: When I got my tooth knocked out.
  • Happy birthday Lily!

Best birthday- my 16th birthday, we were away on vacation and I got uber spoiled. We were down the shore and then I was suprised with ticket to go see a show in AC. I got a lot of stuff. My parents still joke about it being the birthday that never ended.

Worst- not sure may be my 30th. I had already met BF at the time but we hadn't gone on our first official date yet. I felt awful about being single and 30, blah blah.

Best gift- our 1st yr together BF got me tickets to see a show on Broadway great seats with one of my fav shows and favorite performers. We had 5th row seats!!!
My bday is in almost 2 weeks. I'd love an ering but I told him no gift this year since he took me to an expensive concert in June.

  • So question of the day:
    What's your favorite birthday:
Last year, I turned 23 which wasn't all that exiciting, but BF and I were in Cali and he booked a room at a yoga resort/spa in Avila Beach and it was beautiful and had its own private hot springs hot tub on the balcony, you would turn on the fauct and fresh mineral water from the hot springs would come pouring out. And I got to take a private yoga class in a hill top room, amazing!

Least favorite birthday: Acutally this year, I turned 24 and it sucked! I took the day off work which I always do but it was totally ruined. I ended up paying for everything myself, I didn't get a single gift, no cards in the mail like usual, my boyfriend was 2.5 hours late to dinner and it was just sucky. Glad its over.

What would be the perfect birthday gift and why? Perfect birthday gift would be a European vacation, I miss Europe and need to get back ASAP, I've been really feeling the travel bug lately!

Happy Birthday by the way! We're both Coloradoans!

    Happy birthday Lily and Jen!

Best: 26th, because my best friend surprised me by coming to Chicago for it!
Worst: 23rd, because I was getting over a guy and cried at the bar. Lame.

Best gift: I got a bike when I was 13, that was pretty sweet. If DH got me front row tickets to a hockey game, that would be the best gift I could think of right now.
  • Happy birthday, Jen, as well!!!
  • Happy birthday Lily and Jen!

Favorite birthday - Probably my 21st because I got to go to Hawaii with my mom after partying with friends the night before.

Least favorite - My 16th birthday. My grandpa died about a week and a half before. I'd already gone back to school but my mom was still out of town. I had to host my party in our backyard (in December) by myself and my friends were being asshats.

Best gift: A house...and kittens. Best gift I've actually gotten would maybe be my first iPod because I wanted it for so long.
  • LilyRose and JenJennifer Happy Birthday Ladies!

Favorite birthday was this year's 31! Though I was in emense physical pain I had wonderful friends, my daughter and FI with me. We went to the circus, and ate a wonderful dinner. I couldnt be happier than to be surrounded by such wonderful loving people.

Worst: 26th the guy I was dating at the time forgot my birthday and valentines 5 days before and tried to combine them. Whole thing sucked majorly many friends were living out of town at the time too.

    Best Gifts: Laughter, Love :)

  • Happy Birthday Jen and Lily!

Best: Turning 22. I got to fly up from SC for mom's retirement, BF and I had our first date at a fantastic restaurant, followed by lots of kisses while we watched Oceans 11, and he bought me a dozen GF chocolate lava cupcakes. AND my grandparents and my uncle were here for mom's retirement from CA. So, it was really nice.

Worst: Toss up between 16 and 21. For my 16th, one person showed up for my party, and on the actual day, mom was too sick to move, so she handed me my presents in a target bag and went back to sleep. I know it's not her fault, but it still sucked. My 21st was in the middle of finals week my senior year. Nuff said.

Best Present: This year I'd really like a weekend away. Or, that infinity necklace from Tiffany. Seriously, I'm kind of hoping BF finds that on my pinterest boards in a few months and I get it for either anniversary/birthday/Christmas, since they're all in the same month.

    Happy birthday Lilyrose!

Favorite: My mom took me to Disneyland for my 16th birthday, and it was amazing! The only downside was that my birthday was near the end of school during testing, so every friend I asked to go with me couldnt. I finally found a friend, but I was really close to going to Disneyland with no friends. All was well, though, and I will always remember it as one of the best times Ive ever had!

Worst: My birthday last year was a little sad. It wasnt terrible, my coworkers celebrated a bit with me, and BF and I went to dinner, but it was my 21st birthday and I didnt really have anyone but BF to celebrate with. All my friends were back home, so it was a really anticlimactic 21st. I didnt even get carded for the wine I ordered!

Best Present: A house. I would be so happy, especially since I could finally have a sort of craft room for myself. I would also love to have a yard with enough room for all the critters I plan on getting.

ETA: Happy birthday to Jen too! :D

    what's your favorite birthday?
I can't think of any that really stand out as amazing. I think 23 was pretty good, even though I was sick the day of my birthday. FI took me to my first Red Wing's game and a few days later we left for Vegas to celebrate my graduation (college not high school).

    Least favorite birthday?
Was it 24 or 25? FI's grandpa died days before my birthday and FI flew to North Carolina for the funeral. I spent my birthday alone feeling sorry for myself. Also FI had time in North Carolina to go check out some motorcycle shops, but not enough time to even pick up a card for me. I knew the situation wasn't really his fault, but I was still pretty irked.

What would be the perfect birthday gift and why?
Money for a wedding or my student loans would be great!

I actually didn't ask for it. Typically if I want somethig from the BF gift wise, which is rare, I just keep mentioning how much I love XYZ, or so and so had this necklace and I'd love one.

I would also casually mention if you are looking for something to get me. I really like and just mention it. Although I wouldn't do that unless the BF asked.
