Boudoir

A good friend of mine is a professional photographer and she has been trying to get me to do a boudoir session for YEARS. She put up a deal on Livingsocial a few weeks ago and I finally broke down and went for it.

The shoot was going to be a couple weeks from now, but it had to get moved up to this weekend. So I'm now both excited and terrified! My little "tone up for the shoot" plan is definitely not going to work now, YIKES!

Here's to hoping that my body magically decides to look fantastic this weekend, and that any other flaws can be edited out by my wonderful friend.

Any tips, pointers or positive vibes would be helpful!

Personally, I haven't done a Boudoir session.  I really want to though because I thought it would be a nice gift for my bf (who seems obsessed with my body even with the 10 year post pregnancy poof of a belly).  I would say wear some sexy shoes and lace lingere.  Good luck and let us know how it goes. I wouldn't even be doing this if I didn't know the photog so well and there wasn't a hefty discount.

Although I spent more than the discount on lingerie the other day though, whoops! I'll probably try to return most of it (It's just bras/tops... I already have enough pairs of lacy underpants.)

Daaaaaang, you're brave! I want to do one, but being plus-sized and camera shy is a huge factor (though I have seen plus-sized boudoir photography and it is very tasteful). I think I just have to build myself up and make sure I can afford a really good photographer and get my hair and makeup done (because I am clueless and don't trust myself). Maybe for our first wedding anniversary.

Oh god, I forgot about my hair. I have no clue what I'll do with it. The whole wash/semi-dry/braid thing has worked out for me lately so I imagine that's what I'll do. I had visions of me wearing a cute pin-up style but I don't think I have enough time to research or test it out.

Do you have a friend who does hair professionally, or know someone who does? Or at least a friend who knows what they're doing?

I did one for FI last year for a Valentine's Day gift. He absolutely loved it! I was a little nervous at first, but thankfully I'm not a shy person and don't get embarrassed easily, and the photographer made it very comfortable and not awkward at all. I would actually love to do another one. It's a great confidence booster and in a way, a gift for yourself. You feel sexy, confident and you just feel great once you see how beautiful you really are! And not to mention, your BF/FI/H will absolutely love it.

The only suggestions I have are to wear things that you feel comfortable in, and maybe throw in some outfits that have some meaning to the both of you. A couple things I did were to wear FI's white button up since I knew how much he loved it, and to wear one of his favorite hats. Hair tip - VOLUME!  Makeup - Make your eyes really stand out. You could even do false eyelashes if you wanted to. Sometimes it's helpful to wear more makeup than you normally would for photos. Have fun with it and get into it! Be confident and let your inner sex kitten come out ;)

This is awesome!  I so want to do this.  I was originally planning to as a wedding present, and when the time comes may do it.

    Here are a couple tips...

Early in the week eat lots of coniferous veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, etc) and high fiber whole grains, they keep you full.  Eat extra protein and get some work outs in. Cut the coniferous veggies (bloat) and as much sodium (swelling) and sugar as possible at least 48 hours prior to the shoot.  The morning of do a quick workout, which will help keep you looking toned.  Also if you can still feel the burn it you will feel more confident.  Lastly, ROCK IT!

Question: What does one DO with boudoir photos after they are taking? You don't hang them over the fireplace, right?

    I've always wondered.

Haha, Paint!  I'd allow my H (if I had one) to hang one, that wasn't too racy in the bedroom, the rest would be in an album in the office, for his eyes only.

    LOL!

    I think it's more of a For-His-Eyes-Only thing.

The photos I've seen are very tasteful, yet sexy... which is what I'm going for. No spread eagle for me!

I have friends that can do hair, but I don't know if I can get them at such short notice. One of my best friends is a cosmotologist, so she is AWESOME with hair and makeup, but she might be working that day. It's entirely possible I could just drop by her workplace and have her hook me up though, lol.

I would totally do that! Offer to buy her lunch after your shoot or something by way of payment.

I have a friend who's a hairdresser. I would totally hit her up for something like this (I was already planning on asking her for her help for my wedding, too).

I did this for BF for Christmas this year :-) I did more of a pin-up style, with the red lips & curled hair. I wore a retro-style bathing suit that I already had, but put on fishnets & black patent heels. My photographer friend (which totally helped, because I was comfortable with her) gave me a re-do because I originally tried it with lingerie & just wasn't comfortable AT ALL. But once I had that suit on, and the hair & makeup the way I wanted, it was SO MUCH FUN. I will post a couple on here if you want to see them... it was really fun, and I think BF will love them. Just make sure you're comfortable in what you're wearing, and get your hair & makeup done the way you want. It's all in the confidence!! :-)

    Thank you!!

Wink - They're super fun to do - have a glass of wine or two, and try to relax. I am most certainly no model, so I looked online for posing ideas - because I knew I wanted a pin-up feel. Do a little research & then go for it!! You might feel a little goofy, posing & making faces, but that's what the photographer is used to!

I'm getting the standing one :-)
