Thintopia

I have been good for 7 days now. I accidentally was under my calories on a few days because I was trying to be good and didn't have a computer available so I was overestimating how many calories things were and ended up short. So I was about 174 last Monday and now the scale says 167. Huge loss. That goes to show all the crap I've been eating lately, lol. I'm almost done with holidays now, just New Year's, and then I won't have to worry about snacky food anymore.

I'm definitely not going to keep undereating either. I don't want to starve myself. It is nice to see that I can actually see the scale move in the right direction when I behave every single day.

How'd everyone else do?

  • Great job Ely!!

I have to say I have been terrible. As a result I've gained a crapton of weight in the past few months. I can't feel sorry for myself because I know exactly why I gained the weight. So now it's time to reverse it. Because as I'm sure you all can agree, seeing the scale go up and up and up hurts.

  • Indeed it does. I have done a wonderful job of maintaining the same 15 pounds for the last year and a half. I do so well and then get comfortable and start eating what I want and don't get back into it until I'm back up 15 pounds. It's a horrible cycle and stresses me out. The lowest I've ever been is 163, so I'm hoping that I can stick with this streak of will power and push past that. I think the hardest part is getting into the groove. It's easy to do it for a few days and then give up.

But that's why I'm glad that I can come here to talk about it. I think it helps so much to have all the support that there is here, both in dealing with the emotional aspect and learning tips and keeping up motivation.

  • I still have no scale, so I have no idea what the actual number is. I'm most likely up, since I've been eating all kinds of junk the last few weeks. :(

I'm hoping since I have a lighter course load next term that I can be more organized with meals, but I often say things like that. It usually doesn't happen/last.

Maybe you can make up a set plan. I know I always do better when I have something concrete to follow. Set up a calorie allowance, or a certain amount of times to work out, a certain amount of water to drink. You can also work on keeping the junky food away from you so you won't be tempted. I am always doing better on my eating when I stock my kitchen with healthy foods and keep the junk food out. It's not always possible with FI living with me, but it helps, lol.

For sure, not having it around is a big help. We came home for Christmas, so it's just been whatever is in the house at our parents' houses unfortunately. We're pretty broke, so we are taking advantage of not having to buy our own groceries for a couple of weeks. :) I do feel like it would be so much easier to eat well if I didn't live with BF though, so maybe I need to make him fend for himself if he wants junky food. I would be totally ok to load up on veggies, but he always wants tons of carbs and then I eat them because they're there, you know?

Yeah, I definitely understand that. I eat a ton of crap I don't need when I go to my mom and dad's house. I also have a weakness for carbs and chocolate, so that's hard too. I do know that L-Glutamine helps for curbing cravings for carbs. I use it from time to time when I feel the urge and it seriously is like tricking your body into believing you've already eaten it. It's in the vitamin section of most grocery stores. I buy the really cheap brand and it still is wonderful for helping me.

Speaking of that, I should probably go get one because FI was eating popcorn and now I am craving junk, lol. But it's not too expensive and you don't have to take it every day, just when you feel the cravings are starting to take you over.

Also gum or water will help. If your mouth is busy chewing or your belly is fully of water, you're less likely to indulge. I know it's all easier said than done, believe me, but just try to remember the good feeling that you get when you are good and also the bad, guilty feeling when you eat more than you should. That helps me a lot too.

Losing weight is definitely no easy task, but if you have some tips, it can become easier.

  • No problem at all. I know all suggestions don't work, but I know how hard it is to stick to something like that, so I don't mind sharing what I've learned so far and hearing advice from others as well! : )
