new recepie, or bbq sauce?

My friend is coming over for dinner and I'm debating whether to make her regular grilled chicken or try this new recepie.
It's a lime/garlic/ginger marinade. I've never made this before so I dont know, sounds like it could be good...maybe.
Anyone had this before? Is it good? Should I just stick to bbq sauce?

Where did you get the recipe from? I usually use recipes from trusted sources, especially places like allrecipes.com because they're given ratings by users and a lot of times the user comments will have great tips on how to improve the recipe or give you more specific cooking instructions. I wouldn't take a gamble on a recipe out of a magazine or something for a special ocassion like a friend coming over.

I think it was allrecepies but I dont remember the rating. Sometimes the things I try from there are kind of hit and miss. Last miss was a tuna cassarole....HUGE miss LOL
I get the citrus/chicken thing, but maybe the garlic and ginger are a bit too much? Honestly, I'm just trying to use this fresh ginger that I bought for something so it doesn't completely go to waste :)

Of course, that makes the most sense!

Here's the suggestion someone  had: "Instead of using 4 limes, use two, and instead of using 3 cloves of garlic, use 4. Absolutely amazing and delicious - 4 limes would DEFINETLY be too much. Also - make sure you marinade for 20 minutes, and not a second longer."

I found the recipe on allrecipes.

Found lemons seems like it would be EXTREMELY tangy. So, it makes sense to use a few less. Otherwise, I'd try it!

Ground ginger and fresh ginger won't work the same way in a recipe. Just a heads up.

</div><div>It seems that way, based on this website. I've never tried it before, I just know from watching too much food network that generally fresh herbs and dried herbs aren't equal. </div>

That recipe sounds great! I would go for it. A LOT of us here love to cook and share recipes and cooking advice!

I made a similar recipe last night. I kind of made it up:
    Take 4 chicken breasts.

Squeeze lemon and lime juice (about 1/4 cup of each) and add two tablespoons of olive oil in a bowl.

Add 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt, 1 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 teaspoon oregano, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, 1/2 teaspoon cumin, 1/2 teaspoon paprika, 1/4 teaspoon chili powder, 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes. Whisk everything together.

Put the chicken in a plastic ziploc bag, then pour in the marinade. Close the bag, turn it to coat, and let the chicken sit in the marinade for 30 minutes (15 mins on each side).

Bake the chicken in the oven at 425 for about 40 minutes. The chicken was flavorful and juicy! I served it with black beans and corn and a side of broccoli.

Feel free to use that =)
