I don't wanna grow up

Like seriously.  This talk of polly pockets, neopets, and Littlist pet shop has me still wanting to be a Toys R Us kid.

My fav thing when I was a kid? My Teddy Ruxpin.  I LOVED that thing.  I didn't play with many toys when I was little but he was an exeption.

What was your fav toys growing up?
When is my wedding

I had twin baby dolls named Ryan and Michelle. They had switches on the back to make them cry, and my Mom made a ton of clothes for them. They rocked. I had little strollers and cradles and plastic food and everything for them.

My little ponies.  Hands down.  I had BUCKETS of those things.  My brother and I staged epic battles where his teenage mutant ninja turtles rode around gallantly on my little ponies.  Man, did I love those things.

I played with my Barbies a LOT! I had a dream house and a car too!  I know barbies aren't an appropriate representation of women or whatever, but I had so much fun playing with them!

I also had a stuffed animal (cat) named Pinky that I slept with every night. My uncle gave it to me when I was a baby or a toddler (not sure) and I couldn't live without it until I was 10 or so :) Her eyes got so faded that my mom once drew them back on with marker, but if freaked me out so bad that I cried until she put Pinky through the wash to fix them. I still have her, but she's in a box somewhere.

I also really loved to play with my TMNT action figures! Turtles in a half shell!

I just wrote on the other thread about my Polly Pockets. I now want to drive the hour to my Mom's house and dig around just to see if they are still there.

Beads- I had a set of twin dolls too.  They were anatomically correct.  Way to go Mom and Dad.  I think that's how they taught me the difference....

Legos rule!  I still play with Legos when I see them.  Another one I loved were play-doh sets.  Those rocked and I loved the smell of fresh play-doh.

I made up a lot of imaginary games - like my friends and I would see a picture of someone in the paper and decide they were a bad guy and we had to find them.

As for toys - I had some barbies. I remember building a lot of car tracks for my brother. I also had lincoln logs too. I think I just like my made up games more or board/card games and being outside.

Are you guys old enough to have watched Jem? My Jem doll had Barbies as band mates because I didn't have any of the Holograms.

I also saw She-Ra on DVD at Target the other day. Crazy!

Childhood toys were so much fun! I had a doodle bear Wrkn! I loved mine too.
And Loopy me and my sister made up all kinds of imaginary games like that.

We would also pretend we were detectives trying to find out a special secret then try to "infiltrate" the living room where my parents were having conversations and hide behind the couch and write down what they were saying. I still have notebooks somewhere with notes in it like "Bad guys have meeting on the 18th and can't be late." I'm assuming they were talking about bills or something haha We also had a small tent that we would pitch in our den and we would pretend to camp. And my mom would bring us snacks and we would pretend she was a bear. Great fun. A snack brining bear. :)

Holy flashback Batman!  I use to have Polly Pockets, Teddy Ruxpin and tons of barbies.  I remember when I was little that I always wanted the lifesize barbie where you could wear her clothes, and I never got one.  Same thing with a Barbie Dream House.  I remember putting both of them on my Christmas list like 4 years in a row and never getting it.  So sad.

Any of you guys ever have Sky Dancers?  My sisters and I loved those and I really don't know why.  You pulled the string, they flew up a little and fell back down, yet we would play with them for hours.  The things kids are entertained by I guess...

OMG. Coastie, I LOVED my Teddy Ruxpin. When I was about 8, he was broken and missing a shirt, and my mom decided it was time to give him away. I cried. It was SO sad! I didn't want to part with him.

I was always into dress-up. I loved, and still do love, dresses, girly stuff, sparkle, flower adornments, etc. I had a little lace "bridal gown" and veil. I think my mom must have made them for me. Loved wearing them and playing "bride." I liked Barbies for the same reason, but never played many "scenarios" with them. It was pretty much about the clothes. I also had a vintage bride doll (similar to a Barbie) that I thought was so elegant and glamorous. I guess I had a thing for weddings when I was little, come to think of it! (Never thought much about weddings or being a bride after that, though, until I was about 19.) Loved my Polly Pocket. Never had Littlest Pet Shop or My Little Pony. I was a huge bookworm for a lot of years. Learned to read freakishly early. That was my thing. :)

ETA: Cheers to Lincoln Logs and Lite Brite. Big fan of board games, too.

I played by myself a lot, so like Loopy, I used my imagination ;)

I did like Barbies, Polly Pockets, Doodlebears, etc. I never had a Sky Dancer, Jem, but I always wanted one! Jealous.

But I also grew up with my uncle who was 13 years older than me and more like a brother. So I probably spent more time playing with Lego (we have TONS of it), train sets, and my personal favourite, Alien action figures. And yes, Alien face huggers (from the movie) often did end up on Barbie.

What about TV shows too?  Everytime I flip through the Disney Channel or Saturday morning tv I can't believe the crap they play.  What happened to the good stuff?

Anyone remember Fraggle Rock and Shiningtime Station?  Mr Roger's neighborhood?  And then of course the classics like TMNT and Power Rangers?  Oh how I miss the good ol' days...

I loved my litebrite, till my sister threw a tanrum and and tossed it on the floor of my basement bedroom. Needless to say, the litebrite did not survive, and my sister barely did. Brat. Also, I always wanted a doodle bear, and my parents finally got us mini ones when I was long over it.
