How many of you are lefties?

This was stolen from Wedding Woes. Very interesting and some things I even see in my self.

    You Brat!

  • Stina, you still love me
  • I'm right handed, BF is left handed though, will send to him and see what he thinks.

  • I'm a rightie, but my sister, my boyfriend and my best friend are all lefties.  My dad was a leftie but he was forced to learn to write with his right hand.  I'll definitely be sharing that link with them.  I can also add that my BF has no tolerance for scary movies, but to be fair I scare quite easily as well.

  • I'm left handed but I don't see any correlation.  I don't have ADHD (my younger brother who is right handed does though), I'm not scared and the only accidents I've been in are ones where people have hit ME haha

I do hate smudging my ink though but it doesn't happen often because I don't have the hook hand.  Also because of a mean teacher in 4th grade I can write with my right hand as well.  Besides lefties are the ones that in their right mind!

  • I'm a righty...but fun fact:  you're more likely to be a genius if you're left handed.  And President Obama is a leftie.

This is why the only things I do left handed are write, bat, golf, and occassionaly eat (chopsticks are easier left handed than right).

I smudge everything. I always refused to write on the board because I couldn't do it. I hate three ring binders and sprial notebooks, and trying to make posters.

I am clumsy and I have always been the only child in our family that seemed to be sick all the time. But no ADHD and my two accidents the people ran stop signs and hit me.

YES!  I had a whole system in college with my notebooks because of all the note taking.  I put everything in upside down!

  • I'm right handed but left legged. I'm the one always nagging the dance teacher to make us do the left side.
  • Me!! Well, sort of. I write with my left hand and use eating utensils with my left hand. Using a scissors and throwing a ball is done with my right hand. I cannot switch it up, like use a pencil in my right hand and cut with my left hand. For some reason, when I pick up a knife to butter bread or whatever, I never seem to put it in the "correct" hand (what feels most comfortable). Even sitting here trying to think about it, I can't figure out which hand I normally use for that. I think it's my left.

That article is interesting. The part about being scared is so true for me, to the point that it's embarrassing. If someone's about to enter a door and I'm exiting (or vice versa) and it's a solid door that you can't see through, I will jump and screech EVERY SINGLE TIME. Scary movies are not my style.

  • I'm basically useless with my left hand.  Anything that requires fine movements (writing, etc.) I fail miserably at if I can't use my right hand.

BF is right-handed, but he uses a left-handed guitar.  I found that strange.

My daughter is left handed, my fault for stressing during pregnancy!  ;)

She is a little nuts, but also better in school than many of her peers... so that part was wrong.

Time out for a proud mama/bragging moment: kiddo just scored in the 99th percentile for her the school district on a gifted/talented screening assessment.  /end bragging

Is your daughter stronger in some subjects than others? I'm trying to remember back to left-brained vs right-brained and which side correlates with what strengths. I was always better in English and science classes. Not so much math. I dreaded math class once 7th/8th grade came around. Good job to your daughter!

    Southpaw here.

I've been able to adapt. Nothing really bothers me anymore. I was over-excited about a pair of left-handed scissors my last job bought me, though. I kinda took them when I left...

  • I can't read the article because my work is blocking the page....BUT FI and I are both lefties. What are we going to do if we have right-handed kiddos?

I notice my lefty-ness with bottle openers, can openers, scissors...also have you ever noticed that if you hold a pen with advertising on it in your left hand, it's upside down and backwards? I don't smear my writing with pen too much...but I have a terrible time with chalkboards.

FI and I are not particularly clumsy. I can't tell what else the article commented on from everyone's comments, but hopefully I'll remember to read it when I get home!

Man, I'm late to this, but I'll post anyway.

I am a complete and utter lefty. My mother's father was a lefty (and was actually called "Lefty" in his social circle). My father's father is a lefty. My brother is a lefty as well, and so is my best friend!

When I was a small child learning how to write, my teachers would try to force me to write right-handed, but I would always return the pencil to the left. One of my teachers tried to complain to my parents about it! They told her to leave me alone.

I've adapted to being a lefty, and I rarely have issues with can openers and as long as I don't write in pencil, use a pen with fast-drying ink, and get a notebook with a small spiral, I'm okay. Three ring binders are the devil, though. In college, we actually had left-handed desks, or else could be switched from righty to lefty. I am pretty easily scared though O.o

One of the biggest issues I ever had with being lefty was when I first got my engagement ring. The thick band was uncomfortable to wear at first, because up until that point, I never wore rings on my left hand. I would actually get pains in my fingers from wearing it! Now I sometimes forget I'm wearing it.

My favorite thing I ever saw related to being lefty? On a mug my grandfather has: "If the left side of the body controls the right side of the brain, then only left-handed people are in their right mind!"
