I personally crack up anytime someone misuses isle and aisle. I always think to myself, wow.... that's going to be a long walk.

When I first started posting on the knot about 2 years ago (with another screen name), I remember that some people were seriously into grammar and proper usage.  It has calmed down a lot.  I do think that there is a difference between knowing the right way to use a word and always following the rules.  I know that I make mistakes when I'm typing quickly.  It's not as if my posts are being graded.

Anyway, the one that kills me is how many people can't spell lose.  They spell it as loose.  It drives me nuts.
  • edited December 2011
Good one Goldie...that one bothers me too. I don't point grammar mistakes out to people and try to remember that you can be intelligent and a terrible speller. I'm not a great speller naturally, I've had to work really hard at it. I also always use the spell checker. Grammar is just something that I find easy to remember. Especially the contractions. Replace it with the two words and if it doesn't work, don't use the contraction.

That made my day Ana. I really liked that Alot. I always use alot instead of a lot. It's not that I don't know better but because I'm lazy and once it's done I don't feel like fixing it.

I am a good speller and know my grammar, however sometimes I am typing fast and at work and not paying a whole lot of attention to what is actually showing up on the screen and look back after I have posted to realize that something is wrong. Oops.
