Not Engaged Yet

What do you do to reward or cheer yourself up?

I've been pretty overwhelmed lately with work and school--and thinking about student teaching and graduating. I'm basically really stressed out!

And I had been eyeing some dangly pearl earrings for awhile now, so when I got a coupon, I talked myself into buying them.  Ta-da!  En route to me, my own pair of dangly pearl earrings!  And since I needed cheering up, I had 'em gift-wrapped (for free) with a note to myself telling myself I deserved 'em.

Clicky for dangly earrings--struggling with PIP this morning.

Oh.... and I bought myself chocolate cake.  And it was delicious.

What do you girls do when you need to give yourself a reward and a (much needed) pep talk?

Those earrings are really, really pretty!!!

I'm not really good at doing that for myself so I'm interested to see what everyone else does!!

I get myself a mani/pedi, and occasionally a new article of makeup.  My last one was NARS Dolce Vita lipstick.

[QUOTE] I would go crazy without regular rewards/breaks. .

<div>Hehe, I totally know this feeling!  I love knitting breaks.  But usually it's a reward at the end of the evening. I feel like I got enough done, so I stop earlier than I planned and knit away merrily.</div>

I love those earrings! What a great way to treat yourself.

In the past, my "treats" have been food. I'm trying to make better choices, so now cake/ice cream/cookies are out of the question. I have been getting massages or taking bubble baths as my rewards for enduring high stress lately.

I usually treat myself to a piece of cake or something along that line.  If I've had a really bad day I might stop somewhere and get a new soap, face mask, nail polish, etc.  Sometimes little things can go along way!  Especially on a budgetUndecided.

Thanks everyone for the compliments on the earrings--they arrive tomorrow! I'll have to wear 'em on Friday. I may AW them because I'm super excited.

@Buckeye:  I know what you mean! I had to really talk myself into buying the earrings. Even with my $50 off, it was still way more pricy then I thought I should be spending with my broke-as-fruitcake student teaching semester coming up. I usually go the bubble bath, knitting, read for fun route.

I am the worst at emotional shopping. One time I had a terrible day at the temp job I was currently working at, so I went and blew about $150 at the mall. I knew I'd get in trouble for wasting money, so I bought things for FI to smooth things over. It worked, he never found out how much I spent, but I felt incredibly guilty.

Now, I'm more controlled. My "reward" is usually a fancy beverage at Starbuck's, something I don't usually get. A "cheering up" is more like a pair of earrings or a fun new top.

Those are beautiful.  I love that style.

I also love that you had them wrapped for yourself.  That's cute.

Pie! It's the best thing that can cheer me up.  As long as it's not pecan I'm happy.  I always prefer pumpkin apple or chocolate though.  I can't wait to make my mom's famous pumpkin apple pie for T-day!

I get either shopping or junk food. I'm also a cake person. I'll go to Safeway and buy a piece of chocolate cake for $1.50.

Whenever I need cheering up, I usually go for junk food! I get me my favorite pizza (hungry howie's), some mexican coca-cola, and a gansito!! And I enjoy them while watching a good movie or a soccer game, all cuddled up at home....

A bowl of ice cream and a glass of wine in front of the TV is usually my pick-me-up after an especially crappy day. Sometimes I'll get a fancy Starbucks treat or something.

I'm actually really awful at doing nice things for myself. I know that sounds dumb, but I need to put more effort into it. Saving up for something nice - like earrings I really want or a massage or a new book I'm dying to read.

And shoes/purses/new top.  I'm an emotional shopper...but still really cheap.  Figure that out.
