EPIC WR AW Tahoe Trip Post - Pic HEAVY!!!

Ok, did I throw enough capital letters and abbreviations up there to catch your attention?  I'm going total AW right now to catch you all up on last week's Tahoe wedding planning extravaganza trip.  It was me, my mom, FMIL, FSIL/BM, and two other girl friends.  In one van.  Yes.  That's right.  One van.  It was an absolute blast and I could never get into all the details but you'll all appreciate photos.  So here goes!!

Tuesday, these arrived in the mail and I got all excited.  That's a vinyl poster, magnets and bags from Vistaprint.  The bags will hold wedding party gifts.  No idea what we're doing with the vinyl poster and magnets . . . I had free stuff to order so that's what I got.  Maybe poster at the rehearsal dinner?  No idea but we'll figure it out.

We stayed at MOH's family vacation home in Rubicon Bay.  This was the view Thursday morning:

The makeup lady came Thursday morning.  Here's before:

And after WITH the people's eyebrow happening (yes Shoes - lashes will be added!):

THEN we went to the venue, Fitzhaven Estate, in Tahoe Vista.  Some basic decisions had to be made first . . . the lawn was obvious for the ceremony, the deck for coctail hour, the side of the house we'll tent for dinner, then back to lawn and deck for desserts and dancing.
Lawn:

Lawn & Deck:

Side of house - will be tented for dinner.  That's pretty standard for the venue and wasn't originally our first choice.  But, after looking at everything, we really love this option since it'll break the space up and allow for us to really take advantage of the entire place:

View from where I'll be getting dressed . . . love that huge deck!!

Mom and I practiced walked out of the house, down the stairs, and out to the area where we'll get married.  I'm having her and my dad walk me down the aisle.

After Fitzhaven, it was time for hair trial and a little shopping.  I had FMIL distract the other ladies while mom and I went to the jewelry store to get bridesmaid gifts.  I got silver Lake Tahoe pendants for them all - the 4 bms will have a small emerald where Emerald Bay is located and the 3 little girls (our Jr. bms) will have the same thing, no emerald.

On to hair.  I LOVE my stylist.  She's amazing.  Originally I really wanted a side chignon type deal with some sort of braid in the front.  The braid on the front didn't really work out well because I don't have a ton of hair - it would have taken away from the bun part.  Here was option 1 with the front hair up and away from my face:

This was the back of option 1.  LOVE that she figured out a way to incorporate the braid feeling I was going for.

Then the back for the second option . . . she kept the brain but beefed up the side part a bit with more curls/volume.  LOVE it!!

And now for the front.  I like this better - hair down and swooped across the front more.  It's option 2 for sure!

After the hair trial, we went to Gar Woods to check out where the rehearsal dinner will be.  FMIL is hosting and she really wanted to eat there.  Here's a view from their dock area:

That night, we were all really tired.  So we decided to partake in extra fun.  THIS happened:

Friday, we went to the florist.  Going with billy balls, scabiosa pods, and blush cabbage roses . . . similar to this (don't know why this pic came out sideways):

Mine will be all blush cabbage roses, similar to this (also weirdly sideways):

THEN we went to visit the hotels we're recommending for our guests.  It was REALLY windy on Friday - you can see that in the view from the deck at one of those places:

Then we went and did some other errands.  We then finished wedding stuff and went for drinks here:

We drove home on Saturday and I spent Sunday recovering.  Also ordering a ton of WR craft supplies in bulk online.  Also installing my fantastic SUP taxi rack on the Subaru because . . . ANNOUNCEMENT!!!  I purchased a SUP!!!!  I tested out Lyn's Woody and really liked him but ended up going with something just as nice and a bit less expensive so I could not feel so bad about spending the money 3 1/2 months before our ever-more-expensive wedding.  Here's the rack:

Tonight, I'm going to pick up my board and do sunset paddle with Lyn.  FI is up north for his week long bachelor party and, while I miss him so very much, life is GOOD!!!!

Thoughts ladies??

Ooh beautiful views! How picture perfect!

I agree with your call on option two for your hair. It has more omph! I love all your pictures too. I can't wait to see the final product! (Meaning dress and all)

ETA: Oh what? I go to post and MORE pictures appear! Yay! Gonna look at them now!

ETA 2: I love the bouquets, they are so unique, but have a really classic/vintage feel to them. And wow! You got yourself a SUP board. Your pictures from your time with Lyn looked so much fun, and I guess it really really way. Have fun!

Texas Gal - Yep!!  I accidentally posted when I meant to add another pic.  So I added a bunch more!!  I freaking adore the bouquets.  They are so perfect for what we're going for and I can't wait to see them in person!!

Tiger - I also do not love tequila but FMIL does.  She brought this 100% agave stuff and it actually was good.  After shot #3 of the trip I was sold.  Plus, how can you not love taking a shot 1) in honor of Casey and 2) from a cowboy boot?!?!  Um, and I love you too!!  Oh - I'm getting more and more pissed at your friends who stole our date and are thereby preventing you from coming to the wedding.

Lyn - Thank you for finding my brain/braid mistake!!  I really, REALLY hope you and Danish-man can come in September.  Plus, you can totally paddle there.  I'll go with you!!  Getting ready now . . . see you soon!!
  • I love the venue, so pretty and such gorgeous views.

I love option #2 for the hair also.  I your bouquet is gorgeous, I love cabbage roses.

    Anniversary

  • I am digging that poster! Putting it up during the rehearsal or reception would be awesome!

Ah haha! I knew there was something I really liked about you. FI and I love tequila. If I'm drinking a mixed drink, I like Don Julio - though I've never really had a margarita that I couldn't drink because of the tequila. If I am taking shots, it pretty much has to be a silver. I can't shoot gold. Havne't a clue why. Patron, Milagro, and Don Julio are my shooters of choice. I'm happy taking a few shots over the night and drinking water, sweet tea, or lemonade. There will most certainly be tequila at my wedding.

    Meg-
Oh wow, I totally missed the brain thing. Great job brain, didn't even realize it said brain not braid. I think it was that whole "you read the first part of the word and just put it into context" thing. I think they did a study on it a while back. I can't wait to see more pictures! Hope you had fun on your SUP date!

  • Wow! Looks like you accomplished a lot! And you already know how jealous I am of your venue. Now I'm also jealous that you get to use a florist. Haha.
  • That venue is amazing, absolutely friggen amazing.  The hair in option #2 is also lovely.

Wish I could drink Tequilla...one whif of the stuff and I want to gag.  No idea why... doesn't seem to be a problem with any other adult beverage. :)

Oh my gosh, Elle, shouldn't you be drunk and eating while having lots of the sex? Get of TK!!!

  • Thanks girls!!  That trip helped solidify a lot of our plans and now I'm really excited to get started on projects!!

On a tequila note - I also really, really can't stomach gold Cuervo.  I know exactly why . . . it's because Jose and I had a run in years ago and I've never been able to recover.  But I'm telling you, that really good 100% agave stuff (Corralejo is what we had) was not bad at all.  Add the salt and the lime to it and I'm in!!

Elle - Um, what Audrewuh said!!  Why aren't you having sexy time and drinking tequila?!?!  On another note, we're only using a florist for bouquets.  Centerpieces and other decor are all being DIY'd by us (and when I say us, I don't me FI - I mean my friends, BP, and the ladies in our families!).  I was thinking about DIY-ing the bouquets too, especially after I saw how beautiful your turned out, but I feel like it would have been too much added stress on top of everything else.  And, to my surprise, FMIL graciously appears to be paying for them; she paid the deposit and has the contract, etc.  So um, yay for our budget!!
  • Everything is perfect! I love it all and I love your hair style!
