Another thread about gifts, while it's on my mind

What would you get a 22-year-old guy for college graduation?

I can't believe my baby brother is done with college.  That doesn't seem possible.

I asked him if there's anything on his list, but he just said that he doesn't think he deserves presents just for getting his B.S.  That made me kinda sad, and I want to get him something anyway.

Is he looking for his first "real" job? Maybe something towards that like a tie and tie clip?

Mookow - I'm actually considering the alcohol idea.  That's one thing I know for sure that he'll like.

Hazel - that's a really great idea, but he's not going straight into the professional work force.  He's got a part time job right now that he's going to stick with until he figures out what graduate program he wants to do, so I'm sort of stuck there.

Ha, my answer for this gift thread is the same as the other...

    Wine
    wine and beer
    wine beer and chocolate

Actually, does he like good whiskey? Maybe you could get him a more expensive bottle than he'd normally buy himself... John Walker Blue anyone?

My family tends to do a timeless gift for graduation from university. So my dad's watch is 40 years old from his graduation and my sister got a birth stone ring. That's why I suggested the tie clip, but it could be anything.

If you want to keep with the alcohol idea and do something timeless like a decanter or set of glasses?

I really like Liv's idea, or Hazel's. I think the idea of something lasting and something celebratory is a really good thought.

I had no idea that watches are a VERY traditional graduation present until I worked in a mall.

I'm still trying to figure it out...

ETA: Would he like Steve Job's biography? Heard it's gonna be a hot gift this year!

Something that hasn't been mentioned is a cool electronic gadget. I don't know what your price range is.
