Conference

How crazy would it be for me to go to a conference for school/work 12 days before my wedding? I'd be traveling to New Orleans for like 3-4 days. I'm worried that I'll be in crazy wedding planning mode.

I wasn't planning on going. But, I found out my advisor submitted one of our papers. So, if we get accepted, I'll have to go and present. This might be the first time in my life that I hope my paper doesn't get accepted.

It might be a fantastic break from all the pre-wedding craziness. Or, it might drive you MORE crazy to be away and not in control. You won't know until you get to 12 days before your wedding. Every bride handles it a little differently.

Me? I had an anxiety attack right around that time. A non-wedding-related trip might have done me wonders.

I was taking 18 credit hours of summer school (calculus, upper-div physiology, Shakespeare for non-majors, and upper-div writing workshop) with the finals three days before my wedding, and it was all okay.  So I say, do it!

I think you can do it. Just make sure you take care of as much as you can before you go, and schedule last-minute things around the trip. For example (and I'm pulling this out of my butt because I've never planned a wedding), if you know you need to meet with a vendor that week, call them a week or so before you leave to schedule this for the day after you get back. Drink lots of water, get lots of sleep (build it into your schedule!), and prepare ahead, and you'll be fine. You might even enjoy a little escape!

Thanks for the suggestions. I probably will end up going. I need to be networking and looking for a job, so it is probably a good idea to go for my career. If FI were in the area, I wouldn't be so worried, but he won't be around to be taking care of stuff. His mom and my mom will be very helpful if there is a last minute emergency (I know, I shouldn't expect people to drop everything and give into my every bridezilla need).

Yes, I definitely think you should go. It's only 3-4 days, so you can plan anything you needed to do during that time for before or after. Plus you have family, BMs, your FI and friends that will help you with anything that needs to get done! I hope your paper gets accepted as I'd imagine that's an awesome accomplishment!
