This Is Why Texting Was Invented! (bitch & moan)

So. I'm sitting at my desk at work and all of a sudden my cell phone rings - it's BF. He was supposed to go to our apartment building and sign the lease today, so I picked up in case he needed any of my information. He says, "Did you hear about Patricia Neal?"

"Uh. No?" I thought he was talking about someone he knew.
"She died."
"Wait...what? Who are you talking about?"
"Patricia Neal. She was an actress, she won an Oscar. She died."
"Oh. Okay?" I've never heard of this actress. Or seen any of the movies she'd been in.
"She was in The Fountainhead," he continued. "Know who wrote that?"
"Ayn Rand."
"That's right."
"....Is this all you called to talk to me about?"
"Yes."
"Good bye."

Ugh. I really hate it when he does this. He calls me for trivial, stupid little things while I'm at work or if he knows I'm busy (like getting my nails done). If I don't pick up, he'll either keep calling me or text "Call me ASAP". Then when I do call him, because I think it's an emergency, he tells me something like he just found out Joss Wheadon is directing the Avengers movie.

I told him in a FB chat, this is what text messaging is for! If you call me at work and it's NOT an emergency or urgent, it makes me look so unprofessional to just be chatting away on the phone. At least Facebook or texting is more discreet.

And now he's pouting because I berated him. But I've had it with his stupid phone calls!

I agree with you.  I've always hated sitting in an office and hearing everyone chatting away all day long with everyone they knew.  A call here or there is one thing, but I've always wondered how they got any work done.

Agreed. BF and I use Skype chat during the day, so we can share trivial things and not disrupt each other's work. Calling can develop into "Boy who cried wolf" syndrome.
