I noticed it's helped other girls here in the past, so why not me?

I'm auditioning for an original musical at my alma mater on Monday. The audition notice asked us to prepare a ballad and an uptempo - but it doesn't mention if they want Broadway or pop or whatever, so I'm going to take it as carte blanche.
FI is a musician and is helping me prepare. My ballad is going to be "Drops of Jupiter" by Train but we are having MAJOR disagreements on my uptempo.
I originally wanted to sing Amy Winehouse's version of "Valerie", but during rehearsal, FI told me I was singing off-key. Rather than work on getting me ON key, he told me we should pick a new song. This is the list of rejected songs:
"Dog Days are Over" - Florence and the Machine
"I'm Yours" - Jason Mraz
"Marry You" - Bruno Mars
"Just The Way You Are" - Bruno Mars
"Rolling in the Deep" - Adele (I was good up until that damn chorus!)
"Out Tonight" -
RENT
"All My Loving" - The Beatles
"Don't Let Me Down" - The Beatles
"I've Just Seen a Face" - The Beatles
"Help!" - The Beatles
There's probably more I'm forgetting, we went through so many last night.
I'm an alto and open to pretty much anything; it just has to be able to be played on a piano. Procuring sheet music is also a nonissue.
Thanks in advance!
