How much do you share?

Do your IRL friends and family know about NEY or TK? Do you tell them about everything or nothing at all? Other than meeting other knotties after chatting online, do any of you know someone IRL that is on TK, but you already knew them?

I was just wondering because other than FI, I don't really talk about you guys. He hears about you all the time, and I've made references to my online friends to other friends and family, but I kind of feel like it's my own little thing and it would be weird to have someone else that I know join in. Does that make sense? I'm an extremely private person too though, so there's that too.

I've only talked about it with FI and he still doesn't really understand what it is.

I only talk about it with FI. I've mentioned it once or twice to other people but I don't think they really 'get' it, you know? FI totally gets it though, like when he'll start trying to say something to me, look at me and see I'm deeply entranced by the computer, and go "...oh wait, nevermind you're knotting"

Oh now I can see it! I voted I don't talk about it but BF does know about TK. No one else does. It's hard to explain why you post on a wedding website without coming off as BSC.

FI says the internet is just "me" - it's my world that he doesn't get and doesn't want to. He's the only one who really knows about you guys, I tend to keep my internet and real lives fairly separated.

Funny you bring this up, Bri and I were just talking about this sort of thing today. FI knows all about NEY. He met Yaga & Ollie last weekend & Bri is staying over here tomorrow night. My mom and my 2 best friends know all about NEY also. However today, I mentioned to my friend 'R' that "my friend Bri is staying over tomorrow night" & he immediately wanted to know who Bri is & how I know her. This friend is one of the most judgemental people I've ever known which is a big reason we aren't as close as we used to be. I was at a loss & didn't want to tell him the truth. Is that bad? I told him that she's a friend of a friend from work. I hate lying but I just really wasn't in the mood to deal with him being judgey & making fun because he just doesn't get it.

I've told a few close friends, and none gave me strange looks. It's probably beacuse I met FI on match.com, my last roomate through another friend online, and many other past roommates from roommates.com. I think the internet is a great place to meet people, be picky about friendships, and let the real ones grow in real life.

I haven't been here long enough, but my BF and friends know about my baby board friends. I'm kind of a big deal over there

Only FI and I talk about it thogh I'm not sure why.  When I first got here (last summer I think?) he used to laugh when he "caught" me on a wedding website.  I explained that it was ok (and that I wasn't pre-planning!) because I was on the NEY board.  I honestly didn't expect to make such good friends here; that makes it all the more amazing that I have!!

You just reminded me though - I've worn the scarf you made me a few times and have gotten lots of compliments on it.  FI's mom and sister wanted to know where I got it and I just said, "Oh, my friend Yaga made it!" without even thinking that Yaga would make absolutely no sense to them.

I've only talked about NEY with BF.  He used to think I was nuts for being on a wedding site so I made him sit down with me and I showed him that its not all wedding talk here.  I usually talk to him about the crazies, not about specific girls' weddings or anything.

I told him I've been frequenting TN lately and now he asks if I'm "knotting or nesting?"

I have a hard time connecting peoples' real names with their faces, and I think I do a pretty good job of remembering when I am talking to FI about someone, but for some reason Liv will always be Liv, lol. I cannot get myself to say her real name for some reason, lol. Even in my phone, I've got everyone's real name but their screen name too, lol.

It's come up in convo with a few of my best friends. FI knows I go on here as well and refers to you guys as "the girls" lol. He doesn't really understand it, but he doesn't have to.

My FI refers to you all as my friends, but when he says "friends", he always sounds like he's putting quotes around it, lol. I told him if he can be friends with a bunch of old fogies on the ham radio, then I can have friends online that I talk to every day, lol. I don't think he really gets it either, but he knows how much you all mean to me, so he's ok with it, lol.

FI knows I Knot, though I don't think he knows the website.  He just knows I'm "stalking weddings again" lol.  I've mentioned little things to my mom and bestie, but nothing really more than I get awesome ideas from TK.

I am a very private person though.

My name is the same/similar on most things that I need a screen name for as well.  I don't talk about the type of board that this is often, but FI, and a few close friends/family know of my online friends.
