Not Engaged Yet

It's a BOY!

So I heard from my girlfriend last night and IT'S A BOY! She's so excited. Some of you mentioned that it might be easier to think of a gift once you knew the gender...so that's why i'm re-posting this. Any ideas come to you overnight? All the gran babies on her side of the family are boys so far, so i'm sure she'll be getting a lot of hand me downs from her sisters-in-law. I'm willing to spend up to $50...and it doesn't exactly have to be for the baby. It could just be something for the parents to be!

I missed the first post so is this something for a baby shower or just a gift you want to get the parents to be?  I LOVE shopping for babies, maybe I can give you some ideas once I get a better feel of what you are looking for.

Edit- I found the other post. haha.

I really like Blue & White's idea in your other post, something like that would be so cute!  They also have bouquets made of onsies or baby washcloths that are cute, you can google it and see a bunch of ideas.

Well, a package of diapers is always welcome, according to my friends who have kids! =D

    But seriously...

I'm gonna guess this is her first baby, so maybe a fun little gadget, like a baby moniter or a playset thing? I once saw a blanket at Target that makes heartbeat sounds; it's supposed to simulate the sounds that babies hear in the womb. I thought that was cool. I'm so weird, I like looking at baby stuff even though I will probably never have one.

I still like mine from the other post, haha.

Or you can get some awesome stuffed footballs and stuff.  Though I should be clear that I am not reinforcing gender roles.  My girls will have footballs too, cause we're going to be a football-y household, haha :)

Obviously this would just be in addition to another gift. :)

Does your girlfriend like acessorizing? Maybe she might like more then one diaper bag... you could get her an awesomely trendy one.

Also- this blog has some good ideas and comments: http://thesavedquarter.com/2010/09/top-5-worst-baby-shower-gifts/

I love the two sheet idea.

You ladie's have some wonderful suggestions! This will be the couple's first baby. She's not due until February, so this gift is more of a pre-shower "because we're such close friends" type gift.

Do you think I should get something for the baby yet - or should I get something for the couple? There are always groupon/living social deals for hotel rooms or B&Bs around here. Do you think they'd like a little "babymoon" type weekend getaway within driving distance? I just want to do something nice for them because both sides of the family live out of state and I think it would be nice.

I'd get something for them since it's pre baby. Maybe a prenatal massage or something? I've also seem  these shadow boxes with the babys hospital bracelet/hat/photo on pinterest but that may be a bit design specific on the parents part.

FWIW- Our friend had their first baby the same day we were at Disney World so we got him a Mickey Mouse hat with his name on it and a cool onesie. The parents loved it.

    Everyone IS having boys.  Haha.

I 2nd the PeePee TeePee.  Those always crack me up.

I think that a gift certificate to a nice restaurant or something they could do as a couple would be nice.  There will be plenty of time for it to be all about the baby.  Give them a good reminder to get some quality couple time in the next few months.  A babymoon getaway would be FABULOUS!!!

May be something just for her like a massage or a gift certificate for a dinner somewhere fancy.
