The boyfriend and I charted out a 10-year financial future... including kids. In the next two years, we have some surplus designated "to be spent as needed" with the heavy implication that we'd be getting married within that time frame. I

We'd start trying for kids in two years.  And another two years after that.

I'm officially happy. It was as much confirmation as I need, and now I don't have to drive myself crazy anymore wondering what he's thinking. Sometime in the next two years, we'll get married. And I'm A-Okay with that!

I think it's great that you've had these talks and are feeling better. Yayy! It's awesome that you did it in terms of finances too - this is something I'd love to talk with BF about but really can't yet as he's in a school still and I'm still job-hunting.

@Kelly:  It was hard for us too since we're both unemployed, but that was part of the conversation as well.  We talked about different jobs we could get in the area, likely hiring potential, and a general discussion of jobs and everything in addition to budgeting for the next two years and kiddos.

Unfortunately, I'm also stuck with roomies for the next two years.  OH well... there are worse things in life than making good financial decisions that will allow you to pay down student loans and have kiddos with the dude you love.

This is totally awesome that you guys worked on this, just so long as you both realize that sometimes real life gets in the way of the best laid plans.  Congrats on having a timeline that suits both of your need though!
