Is this how it normally happens or, is this small town?

I just got a call from the florst that we'll be using for the wedding, booked and with a deposit down, telling me that she sold the business.

She then went on to say that she didn't want me to hear the news on the street and freak out which is why she was calling. Shet hen told me that she would still be doing all her events that she had booked and it'd be part of helping the new owner transition into the business, so that I didn't need to worry about anything. Just call the florist as normal that they'd call her to bring her in for any consults about the wedding.

I have to say that I'm pretty impressed at the moment. I can't help but wonder if this is normal?

Wow, I think that is impressive.  Very professional on both ends for them to work together and make sure their obligations are met, IMO.

When I was planning a wedding and on my local board there was a restaurant that someone had planned their rehearsal dinner and another had planned their small dinner/reception.  Anyways, the place was sold/under new ownership and a couple weeks (2 or 3) I think one of the girls was freaking out on the board because she called to see if she could bring the cake and wedding party gifts up early for their rehearsal dinner and they were like what dinner?  And then another one was like OMG that's where my dinner/reception is!  Apparently they had to scramble to show their contracts and get the space reserved only a couple weeks out.  Yikes!

I'm not sure if it's normal, but it was definitely nice of her. My venue had our two contacts leave within a month of each other and no one told us. I called one day to talk to our coordinator and they said 'She doesn't work here anymore.' It totally freaked me out. It's awesome that even though they are still planning on doing your wedding, they at least gave you a heads up!

It would be where I come from, but it's also a small, back-woods kind of town. I've just moved to an equally small, but less back-woods town closer to the city, and honestly, it's not the same and I wouldn't expect the same personalised service.

I think you are more likely to get service like that from small, privately owned shops (which are more prevalent in small towns) opposed to large chains. That's so lovely of your florist to do that!

Lunar - I'm going with yellow and red flowers with grey accents with a rustic vibe. These are some of the inspiration pics I used:

Beads - I know we are both from Ontario, but the way you talk we could be from the same small town! Not sure I'd call my town back woods, but it certainly is on the edge of the middle of nowhere :)

Hazel, that 3rd picture is super similar to my flower inspiration! And excellent customer service, for sure.

That is awesome!  I have no idea if it is normal though, I would think not.

Lol. It's not exactly back-woods, but it felt like it a lot of days! (And the people acted like it was.) I tend to be a bit dramatic when I'm talking about my hometown, since I really didn't like it.

I didn't think I liked my hometown until I got to a big city. Now I don't feel like I fit anywhere though because I like and dislike elements about both.
