AW: Invitations (PIP out the wazoo!)

I've spent more time on this so far than anything else WR, so I think I deserve to AW a little. Please feel free to roll your eyes and ignore this thread.

So I designed the invites myself (many thanks to Desert, Tarra, GPB, and Lyn for their artistic guidance) and ordered them through VistaPrint. I'm now in the process of putting a fabric backing on all of them by using my Xyron and a rotary cutter. It's turning out to be a more difficult enterprise than I imagined.

Ok, here we go. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.

The main invite and the the fabric I'm using to back it:

My madlib RSVP cards:

Enclosure cards:

The full suite:

And I'm going to tie it all together with hemp cord, like so:

And then, possibly my favorite of all: wraparound address labels! It's blurry, but you can still see the little owl on it (because my invites are naturally being delivered by owl post):

I think I'm going to change the color of the labels so that they're the same color as the enclosure card. I'll make the text and the owl white.

WDYT?

  • Beautiful!!

I really like the white on the brown but that is just my opinion.

  • Elle, I freaking LOVE these!! When you told me about the Madlib RSVP, I was already excited to see them. They look so good!

I may want to steal them here in 10 months.

Ha, no problem. I can send you my photoshop files and make it really easy on you.

I'm really excited about the madlibs. I can't wait to see the responses.
  • So, total newb question: I want to do madlibs, but I'm terrified of people RSVPing for more than just the invited person(s). How would you prevent that?

I'm just counting on people to follow etiquette. I'm including only the people who are invited on the envelopes. If anybody tries to include some extras, I'll just that give them a call.

I don't anticipate it being a big issue. We're invited the children for anyone who has them, and pretty much all singles are getting "and guest" so I don't imagine there will be anybody left out.
  • ELLE!!! I love the entire thing!! Such a good idea for the enclosure card (might have to steal that) and I love the madlibs RSVP too (um, stealing that as well possibly!). You did a really, really, REALLY good job!!
I want to see them up close . . . so I'll be expecting my invite any day now!

Assuming I don't ruin too many (I already had to trash one - still honing my rotary cutter technique) I should be able to send you one. And I will expect you to be hilarious and creative with your reply.

    Thanks for the compliments!

Surely you can divide 70 by 7. :)

And don't worry -- you'll get an invite. As long as I have enough lol.

You don't have to crash. You're invited.

Also, if you want to come to my shower next weekend, you should. I'm serious. It's in Sugar Land. Don't bring a present. Just come enjoy the food and wine and help me endure being the center of attention.
  • Elle they are in the words of Paige "Amazeballs"! Awesome job. Very creative. So yeah.... you know my address.
  • Thanks, Lyn! I'm glad everyone likes them!

I was having doubts about them until today, but when I got them all put together I was sure I loved them. Yay!

I'm repeatedly amazed at the awesome stuff you ladies can put together. I'm pretty positive there is no way I could put together anything that looked nearly as professional and cool.

You're wrong!! I bet you would surprise yourself and put together something amazing!
  • Jorja, I ditto Meg.

Believe me, I'm no Martha Stewart (a fact that became abundantly clear when I first picked up that rotary cutter). I do, however, need to credit Martha Stewart for some inspiration. I found the idea for fabric backing here:

    http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/228635/special-touches-wedding-invitations/@center/272429/diy-weddings

(You'll have to flip to the fourth slide). As you can see, I based the front layout a little on those as well, but I also took inspiration from a couple other invitations I found. So I'm not exactly original, but I guess I'm good at combining ideas. :)
  • They look fantastic Elle! I love the owl post touch :)

  • Wow little miss Martha Stewart, you really put together some amazingly purdy invitations! Be sure to make lots more than you think you need right now :)
