Had to share this political gem:

http://www.denverpost.com/election2010/ci_15673894?_requestid=3155914

After the first paragraph I had to double-check, make sure I wasn't reading "The Onion."  I hope this article makes the rounds so everyone can get a good laugh over socialist bicylists plots Tongue out

Seriously? Seriously? Oh my God, I think my brain almost exploded from reading the first half of that article.

However, after reading all of it, it is abundantly clear to me that he correct. This bike program is completely obvious move towards a socialist regime. Duh. That's why Obama is in office, remember?

Maes acknowledged that some might find his theories "kooky,"

    Understatement of the year?

Quick, bikes are part of someone's agenda - don't fall into the trap of being green or healthy! It's a conspiracy!

The thing that blows my mind is that it says 50 supports were at the rally.  Really?  50 people believe bicycles are bringing communism?

It's just that I can imagine one crazy person holding this view, just like the dudes who hold signs on the side of the road saying "The World is GOING TO END on August 4th, 2010".  Or the guys who hide in their closet because they believe aliens are going to abduct them.

I just didn't see a whole 50 people holding the same crazy delusion.

EDIT: Now why am I not surprised... I was just going to say something about how I also don't understand how so many people support the Tea Party... the article says "Maes, a Tea Party favorite".  UGH!

Did you see the survey on the article?  The scary thing is that 22% of respondents said they take the risk "very seriously".  I really hope most of them were joking.

No, no, it means "do you take this threat seriously"?  Meaning, do you think the UN is trying to seriously take over Colorado?

That was ridiculous. BF does hate all the bikers in Colorado. Its really funny when he yells at them while he is driving. I doubt the U.N. is trying to take over Colorado but bikers are a huge traffic hazard are are really freaking annoying.

  • edited December 2011
Beth, that's a totally legitimate argument, and should a politician bring up traffic safety as his reason for opposing bicycles, then that would be logical.

But to say "Republican gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes warns of a bike agenda that will spin cities, including Denver, toward United Nations control. "  Oh my, oh Maes.  What a mess!

I still think that 20% are pros who think it'd be awesome if bikers DID take over Colorado, regardless of who they took it over for (the UN, the lizard people, whatevs).

Beth- OMG I was 20 mins late to class the other day because the friggin' bikers throught riding two abreast down 93 at rush hour was a totally awesome idea, so we all had to go 20 mph instead of the usual 70 until they FINALLY turned off to go to Eldorado!

    * I add the Eldorado detail because it means they weren't commuting to work, they were going on a pleasure ride up the canyon, grrrrrr

nefariousmango, I'm super excited to visit Colorado and all these outdoorsy communist UN initiatives!  My brother moved to Boulder recently and LOVES it!

He called me the other day and said, "I think I found heaven!" It was his first visit to the EMS store.. hehe!

That drives me and BF crazy! Everytime we try to drive up to Evergreen we get stuck behind irratating bikers. I mean I'm all for biking as a healthy lifestyle choice but they should still be respectful of road laws because its dangerous for drivers and especially for the bikers.

I would like to say I support the commies by biking to get my haircut. Or I will bike to my appointment. But that's b\c my car is on a car carrier somewhere.

I'm getting a commie inspired style to go with my BC glasses.
