Not Engaged Yet

Freshly returned from...

Hi all!!  Sorry I've been gone a few days right after introducing myself.  Feels like bad manners.  Anyhow, we were out of town for a wedding weekend and I've learned the following lesson for future planning purposes for all of us NEY gals . . . make sure your guests are comfortable!!!  The wedding we went to was beautiful but cold.  Ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner were all outdoors with not nearly enough heat lamps to go around.  It was a beautiful event but so many people were uncomfortable due to the temps.  Lesson learned!!

I hate being cold. I'm going to an outdoor wedding in about two weeks, I hope it isn't cold!! Did you at least have a good time?

lmwilbler - thanks!  Pup was super happy to see us when we got back!

bethsmiles - Yes, we had a good time but it would have been a bit better had we not been cold for so long.  Thankfully I had brought a coat because we knew the evening would be chilly so I highly recommend going prepared.  Outdoor weddings don't have to be cold and most of them that I've been to haven't been cold - just this one was!

I love your dog! He is sooo cute!! BF and I really want a dog but we figure it's better to wait until we are living together or at least engaged.

Welcome back!! That sucks that it was so cold. Was it abnormally cooler where you are or is that just how it is at night & they didn't think about it?

    Welcome back!

That's the great thing, I find,  about not get married young is that I have learned from a lot of other people's mistakes. Now FI is paying attention at weddings. He came back from California and his response to the wedding he went to was "Why would someone have an outdoor wedding in the desert? It was windy with dirt flying everywhere and the cake blew over." Glad I'm no longer the only one that notices planning mistakes.

<div>The cake blew over?  Like, fell over and was ruined?  This seems to me to be a bridezilla producing moment.  I wouldn't want to be the genius on the other end of that one.  </div>

Peekaboo - That's what FI said, sometimes his stories seem farfetched and I don't ask about feasibility. Something for sure went wrong with the cake though.

I can't imagine planning an all-outdoor wedding, it's just way too unpredictable. Obviously pictures of outdoor weddings are gorgeous, but you never know what you're going to get.

Two years ago we went to a friends wedding in Wisconsin in May. It was supposed to be 65 and sunny all weekend. Instead, on the day of the wedding, it was 50, cloudy, and threatening to rain. I have never shivered so much at a wedding in my life!

bethsmiles - yes, we waiting until we were living together.  I moved in at a year and we brought Hogan home after about a month or so.  I recommend that!

LivLeighton - THAT'S THE THING!!!!  We couldn't leave early because the venue was far away and they bussed everyone in.  That was great since it meant we could drink without worrying about driving but it also meant we were trapped - like on a very cold desert island!!

rdr716 - Well it's Marin County - it's generally chilly there at night but it was especially cold.  We kept saying that if there had just been a tent to enclose the space it would have been perfect but I don't know if they thought about a tent last minute.  (And thanks for the welcome back!!)

Oh my goodness that last pic of your dog is adorable.
I feel like being cold is way worse than being warm. When I'm cold all I can think of is stuff like "I really should have brought my gloves..."
It's too bad you were cold though, I hope you and the other guests were still able to enjoy the wedding.

BTW, I sent you a PM about a week ago!
