Guitar @ Ceremony??

I posted this on the ceremony board, but thought i'd post it here too. Is anyone familiar with the guitar or music??

I'm looking into a solo guitarist (with possibility of him bring a flute or bass player) for our ceremony.

I'm not sure what our song options will sound like, as I'm musically challenged, and would love to listen to a few online before contacting him.

Has anyone else used a guitarist for their ceremony? What songs did they play? Was is loud enough?

A string trio isn't really our style, so I thought the guitar might be nice.

My mom used a Spanish guitarist for her wedding (third in case you are wondering), it was great ambient music and they should be able to play anything. I think if they are on the overcroft or at the front it should be plenty loud. But they may need some AV equipment too.

i dunno what style you're going for, but oh man, classical guitarists are *awesome* at weddings. like hetshup said, depending on the building, there's a slight chance they may need an AV, but acoustic guitar is the prettiest.

i kno you'll be doing your own listening online, but this is one of my faves. as a musician, i'm sick of the 'classics' and i can't imagine having them at my own wedding. but i would make an exception if i could get this guy playing ave maria on guitar, it's just lovely.

    Oh, very pretty!

We are having an outside ceremony, so I'm thinking he'll need some sort of hook up.

A friend of mine had her brother play all the pre-ceremony music on his guitar. It was really beautiful. I personally prefer the unplugged sound, but since you are outside you'll definitely need a hook-up, especially if it's a larger ceremony. The sound just won't carry far enough.

ditto on an ampliflier for an outdoor ceremony. a good guitarist should know what he'll need to keep the sound just as clean and natural sounding despite the amplifier. & i hope u dont mind, i think i'm gonna make a little note about maybe having a guitarist too :-)
