Not a great idea

So I just watched the Netflix movie that came today Insidious, it was a scary movie.  Not too scary but scary enough that I shouldn't have watched it while I am home alone.  I now have every light on in my house!

Hopefully between now and bed time I can forget about it and not let it disturb my sleep.

Do you like scary movies?  Can you watch them alone?
Do you have a favorite scary movie?

Anniversary

I have the same love/hate relationship with them.  They are good in the moment but the aftermath sometimes isn't worth it.
I love some of the older one like Exorcist and Poltergeist.  I also liked the first Paranormal Activity.  Not a big fan of the real bloody scary movies.

I also have a love/hate relationship with scary movies. I like a good scary movie, but I feel like a lot of scary movies focus too much on blood and gore. I guess it's hard to have a scary movie without some blood, but I'm so squeamish. I avoid watching scary movies in theaters for this reason. I can pause it and be done with it if I'm at home! I definitely prefer horror movies about ghosts or vampires (the non-sparkly kind) instead of serial killer horror movies.

I actually really love the TV show Supernatural, because I find that it's the perfect balance between scary, gore, and humor. I honestly find it scarier than most scary movies. There's a lot of suspense, and the 1 hour episodes are the perfect length, so the plot doesn't become too predictable. The leading men are also way hot. I will now end my sales pitch for why you should watch it.

I absolutely hate scary movies! I got suckered into watching one just last night. It was the Machinist on Netflix. My FI always falls asleep during any movie, but during scary movies I wake him up constantly and force him to stay awake to watch it with me. If he forces me to watch it, I'm going to force him too!

The Machinist is actually really good in my opinion. It keeps you thinking till the very end, but once it was done I wasn't scared any more which was quite nice!

I absolutely HATE scary movies. I can't watch them at all. I'm afraid of the dark to begin with and anything scary makes my fear worse. I have to change the chanel if a commercial for a scary movie comes on. For a long time I slept with the tv on just so it wasn't completely dark in my room and the sound from the TV would cover up any scary noises I heard. Now that we're in this house I feel pretty safe and we don't have a tv in our room because we covered all the outlets with furniture so I don't have that either. I have an awful fear that someone will sneak into my house during the day when the doors are open and I won't notice until the middle of the night when someone comes into my room... I'm so glad BF doesn't bring his house key to work with him, he sometimes brings patients into the city during the night and stops at home but always has to call first so I let him in, if he had a key I would probably pee the bed because someone was in my house and I wasn't expecting it.

I loooove scary movies! My favorite movie when I was little was 'Nightmare on Elm Street' hahaha. My favorite now is Halloween because it's more realistic. Ones with serial killers freak me out more than others for that reason.

This movie haunted me when I was younger. I watched it on my 5th grade birthday party. I grew up not watching scary movies, so this was new for me. I couldn't sleep for 2 weeks without my mom there beside me and even now I get creeped out if I close my eyes in the shower. My cousin thinks it's funny to sing the little song that the girls song. (Just got a chill!)

I love scary movies, but I usually will watch a scary movie and then follow it up with something Disney before I go to bed, lol. I have a thing for zombie movies, but then I have to do a running leap into bed and hope I fall asleep quickly before my imagination gets the better of me, lol.

This was my favorite too when I was a kid! I remember staying up really late at night, and watching this movie all by myself! Yeah, I was a brave kid back then.... not anymore! Add one more to the count of love/hate relationships with scary movies. I'm always the one bugging my BF and/or friends to go watch the latest scary movie.... but once we're there, I'm also the one covering her face with her hand or turning away from the screen... And the thing is, scary movies tend to get under my skin and the effects can last for a while... I have trouble going to sleep right after watching a scary movie, plus depending on the movie, I'll have nightmares too sometimes :s

My favorites are: the Exorcist, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Stigmata, Let The Right One In, and more recently The Rite (but that one's special for other reasons :p)

You know what I freak out over?  Criminal Minds.  I have banned myself from watching that show when Sean's not home because I convince myself that someone is going to break into the apartment & kill me in my bed when I watch it alone lol
