Not Engaged Yet

Happy weekend!

I got them out this morning. I couldn't BELIEVE how much it hurt. My friend got hers out last week, but she only needed a few advil. I'm stuck on T3s and still in pain. But at least it's over with!

And luckiliy school is over this week! My first week of third year is now OVER. I'm not sure how my classes are yet (seeing as only 1 of them actually included a lecture).

SO tell me about your upcoming weekend! I don't have classes on fridays, so my weekends start on thursday nights :) I was at a BBQ last night which was fun. And now I'm just healing for the weekend.

Hopefully the rest of you are doing exciting things!

It actually hurt?? Wow, I'm surprised. You're talking about your wisdom teeth, right?

Yeah. It didn't hurt during the procedure (I was totally knocked out, I don't remember a thing) but it hurts a LOT now.

I know everyone just reacts differently to it. I'm feeling better now :)

How have you been, Heart? I haven't seen you posting too much recently (not that I have been either)

Oh noes, Bren! Sorry you're in pain! Sending you many "heal fast" thoughts, wishes, vibes, etc. :)

Alas, I have no exciting weekend plans. I am looking forward to making up a big pot of my superyummy creamy cauliflower soup tonight. I've been craving it all week.  Other than that, my agenda consists of thank yous and cleaning. Whoo frigging' hoo.  :P

I'm very jealous that your weekends start on Thursday. I miss the long weekends I had in college!

Send me some for my liquid diet please! :)

Sometimes, having no plans on weekends is nice. I'm a bit of a homebody.

Yeah, I had mine taken out. My lips and mouth were swollen and sore, but it was more uncomfortable than painful.  I'm sorry that you are in pain.

I've been great. Thanks for asking. I've been lurking more than posting. lol.

That sounds freaking awesome! You're making my mouth water because it reminds me of my grandma's broccoli soup! YUMMMMM.

Have my wisdom teeth out hurt like a b*tch for two weeks. I subsisted on yogurt and Ensure, neither of which I can even look at anymore.

I sincerely hope you are more fortunate :P

And I don't have any plans this weekend, except to apply for jobs. Blech.

Hahaha, zipis. RIGHT after my surgery (the anisthetic was still wearing off and I barely remember any of this at all) my gramma took me to the drug store to pick up my prescription and I decided to load up on Ensure and yogurt.

I already have jello and soup.

My little sister was so funny when I was complaining about not being able to eat "real" food: "well maybe you'll lose some weight! I mean, not that you need to or anything!"

Glad you had them out, sorry it hurts!  Right now is the worst of it... you'll feel better in two days, but be careful!  People tend to over-do it, so day 4 is worse than before (my experience and that of a few friends).  Just be easy on yourself for awhile.

Also, try scrambled eggs that you let cool down (don't eat them too hot).  At least it feels like "real food" and you can basically smoosh them with your tongue against your teeth and roof of your mouth without having to chew.

Scrambled eggs and really well cooked pasta were my favourites when I got my wisdom teeth out (once I could handle food again...I was really sick for 4 days, and I couldn't take the painkillers because they made it worse), because they're real food but easy enough to eat.

I'm sure you'll be feeling better in no time though! Especially if you're already starting to feel a bit better. I agree with calindi though, take it easy this weekend, and allow yourself to heal.

My cauliflower soup is bitchin'! The key is onions and PLENTY of salt. My momma taught me how to make it, so I don't have a recipe I follow. I kind of eyeball the amounts. But I'll jot a rough idea down for those who are interested in giving it a try. Just be forewarned you may have to play with it a bit.  :)

2 cups cauliflower, chopped into bite size pieces
    1/2 to 1 c. onions roughly diced
    3 tbsp butter or margarine
    3 tbsp flour
    4-6 cups milk
    salt and pepper to taste

use a 4 qt ish saucepan

set cauliflower to steam until tender

melt the butter in the bottom of the pan and stir in onions; cook until tender

add flour a bit at a time until you have a doughy kind of mixture; let this cook for a minute or two but stir to keep from sticking to the bottom

pour in a cup of the milk and whisk until flour/butter mixture dissolves and it starts to thicken

slowly add another cup and stir; let it cook a minute or two

continue to add milk until you have your desired amount of soup; cook until soup reaches desired thickness (sometimes you have to get it up to a slow boil for a couple minutes for it to get nice and thick) and stir in cauliflower

add plenty of salt to taste; pepper to taste (sometimes I like a bit of red pepper flakes to add a bit of heat)

    ENJOY! :)

Lay in bed in front of the TV or with a good book this weekend.  Eat lots of that jello, too.  Try some of those scrambled eggs the girls were talking about and add in some mashed potatoes with gravy and some mac & cheese.  And whatever you do, do not use a straw for the next couple weeks, it may seem like it's easier, but it could cause you some real problems.

My weekend consists of dress shopping tomorrow and a day trip to Zion on Monday with FI.

Oooh Angie, dress shopping is so exciting! I hope you have a fantastic experience :)

Thanks for the recipe, desert! I've been getting into cooking the past few months so I'll have to try it out.

I think we should take this board and turn it into a recipe board. I love reading all the recipes put on here (like margarita cupcakes which I have unfortunately not tried out yet).

Ouch! no fun. my blender became my best friend. I was totally paranoyed because i knew alot of people who had complications because of eating things they shouldn, so i lived on liquids for a week longer than i had to :P

if you have a blender, you can make smoothies and milkshakes. mmmm. if you chuck an egg into your milkshake it helps keep your protien up too, sounds grose, but you dont even know it's there.
my favorate was an orange milkshake! i would freexe vanilla yoghurt then pop that, orange juice and a bit of honey into the blender! mmmmm yummy.
And soup, as long as it's warm, not super hot can help the pain, but definaly stick with the ice packs! they help alot!
