As much as any other form of dating can work.

I think it could potentially be more difficult in a way, but that depends on the people involved.

Yes, I think it could work. It is online "dating" after all.

Yes, it definitely does work.  I met my BF on an online dating site and I am so thankful because I would have never met him otherwise.  I know it's not for everyone but it's always worth a shot!  I had great luck on it!

I met my ex-BF 12 years ago tomorrow online... We spent 7 months talking online and on the phone and then we finally went on a IRL date and we were together for 4 years... We had a great relationship and I believe that's because we spent the time getting to know each other over the course of months without the tensions of a physical relationship. Ultimately, it didn't work out but it had nothing to do with the fact that we met online. We went our separate ways. Now, he's happily married and I'm in a healthy relationship for the first time since I was with him. We still talk fairly often just to make sure that the other is doing well.

So, yes, I believe that online dating is a great way to get to know someone and of course it can lead to marriage, (in our case, just not with each other! LOL)...

BF and I met online. I've dated guys I met in a variety of ways and while online has it's own set of issues, for lack of a better word, it's really no different in the end.

It works. My husband and I will celebrate 6 months on Feb 21st :) We met online through a webiste/forum and just a few messages and online led to great things. I know many people still feel skeptical about online or online dating thinking you have to be desperate or something - this is not the case at all. It is simple the new way to date in my opinion. You can get to know someone easily of not better online first than say traditonally at a bar or through a friend. I am a huge supporter of online dating :)

Yes it can work. I met my boyfriend through an online dating site. It was easier for me to go online and talk to people rather than starting a conversation with someone. And it worked out wonderfully.

It is a little strange at first but it's so much more relaxing in my opinion because you get to know someone before you meet them in the real world and you can judge if they're a creeper or not. LOL.

But I think it could definitely work out and I believe in it.

Yes, I absolutely do. It doesn't work out for everyone, but it does for a lot of people. As far as I'm concerned, it's completely harmless.

Absolutely! That's how I met my bf. For me, it was just another avenue to meet soneone. The nice thing about dating online is you have a better idea of what each other's intentions are. If you are both looking at the same place, there is a good chance you are both looking for a relationship. Of course you may find some crazies (trust me, I've met my share), but how is that really different from other forms of dating?

Yes. I think it works. I was hired to plan an engagement party for a couple that met online. They lived in the same town all along, but they doubt they would have ever met had it not been for an online dating website. They just had different groups of friends and lived in different parts of the city. They're now happily married.

It works for some, but you have to sort through a lot of lemons, just like IRL.

And ALWAYS be safe when meeting someone in person you met online.

online dating exclusively?  no.  I think you should meet your FI before exchanging wedding vows :)  That's just because I read the OP really oddly.  And was like "um, but shouldn't you meet the person first?

As for meeting people online, that's fine.

But I side-eye those that get married 4 months after they meet (online or not online.  I'm old fashioned)

You certianly can do it.  It can work out just fine, like any way of meeting a person.  I think each person has their own method.  For people who might be sky maybe the internet is a great way to get to know someone (providing they are telling you the truth) first before you meet them.  For me I would never do this because A. I have a great BF right now and B. I just don't feel comfortable with it.  However my Coz did meet and marry someone that way and they are very cool.  It works for people, it's just not for me.
