Tomorrow is my 25th birthday, and I'm taking the day off to spend with BF so I won't be around here to chat with you crazy ladies.

1) What's your favorite birthday memory?

My dad took me on a trainride to visit my (then) BFF for the weekend.  They had this big surprise party for me when I arrived.  I was 7.  It was AWESOME.

2) How did you celebrate birthdays while growing up?

You got whatever you wanted for dinner and cake with family the day of.  Birthday parties for friends were the weekend before or after

3) Do you get excited for your birthday still?

TOTALLY! I've been telling people for YEARS that my birthday should be a holiday...well this year Monday January 3 is a holiday in lieu of New Years Day (b/c it's a Saturday) and it's my GD 25th BIRTHDAY! wo0t!

4) How do you celebrate your birthday as a grown up?
Drinks with friends. And we still do the family dinner and cake.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?
My BFF flew to Newfoundland to visit me one year.  Best gift ever.

6) Do you like when your birthday is, or would you prefer a different day/month?
I like my birthday.  It's cool.  It's a little close to Christmas but at least I wasn't born on my due date (December 25 aka Christmas Day.)

7) What's your astrological sign?  Do you believe in that stuff?

I'm a fish-goat.  Aka Capricorn.  I don't really "believe" in it but some of the things I've read are pretty accurate.

1) What's your favorite birthday memory?

My 24th birthday. BF threw me a "summer" themed bday even though my birthday is in February. Everyone dressed in summery clothes and came to the bar. At the end of the night he and I were (hammered) standing outside the bar snuggling while he was smoking, and I drunkenly said "you wanna marry me someday, don't you?"  EDIT: he said "yeah, probably" back to me. LOL! The whole thing was a blast, but that part makes me giggle  

2) How did you celebrate birthdays while growing up?
Whole family went over to grandparents house and had food and cake. The birthday person got to sit at the head of the table and blow out their candles.

3) Do you get excited for your birthday still?

Yes!  2 months until I'm an old lady of 26. . . and we plan on doing something to celebrate.

4) How do you celebrate your birthday as a grown up?

Drinking to excess so far. . . I'm sure things will calm down as the years progress.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?

I got a bicycle at 13. . .

6) Do you like when your birthday is, or would you prefer a different day/month?

I hate when my birthday is. The middle of February boo. You only get presents on Christmas and birthday, so I never got any good summer gifts (hence BF's plan in answer 1).  I'm going to TTC for my kids to have summer birthdays so they don't have to suffer like I did. 

7) What's your astrological sign?  Do you believe in that stuff?

On the cusp of Pisces and Aquarius. I don't really believe in it, but I do love the water and these are water signs, so I'll go with it as "an interesting correlation."

1) What's your favorite birthday memory?
- I have a bunch but probably my 21st birthday. It was just an all around fun (drunken) day that started with me getting another tattoo and ended with cornpops being thrown off a balcony. I can't get days like that anymore.

2) How did you celebrate birthdays while growing up?
I always had a big themed party. Ice skating, roller skating, pizza parties were big then. I think about how lucky I was back then; I never realized it but my mom was pretty awesome.

3) Do you get excited for your birthday still?
My birthday was 2 days ago and I couldn't have cared less. To me it's just another day of the year and tells me I'm getting older. I get really excited for other people's birthday's though.

4) How do you celebrate your birthday as a grown up?
Usually dinner with the BF/FI/H; it's been all of those at some point and some friends. I usually get to a bar but this year I did none of the above.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?
A trip to Green Bay for the Packers vs. Lions game 4 years ago. It was awesome and the weekend was completely memorable. I will also say this year because FI had his mom craft me a Steelers Christmas tree and a snowman plus he made me dinner by the fire. It was so sweet.:)

6) Do you like when your birthday is, or would you prefer a different day/month?
I don't mind being a mid-December baby. The only issue is people being "too busy or too broke" to go out but that's probably just the suckness of my friends. lol.

7) What's your astrological sign?  Do you believe in that stuff?
I am a Sagittarius III (which you are too Cate) and I am exactly what my sign stands for. Down to a T. I definitely believe in it but not the daily horoscopes so much.

1) What's your favorite birthday memory?
My 21st birthday was in Shanghai, and before heading to the club, I had drinks at the restaurant at the top of the Jin Mao Tower (at the time, the 3rd tallest building in the world).  As I was walking down the stairs, I stumbled and almost fell.  A few South African businessmen started mumbling about the drunk American girl - I hadn't even had a drink!  They didn't realize at first I had heard everything, but when they did they were embarassed.  I laughed it off and said, "It's my 21st birthday, I deserve to fall down a few flights of stairs! The funny thing is that when I'm drunk I'll walk perfectly!"  They apologized and wished me happy birthday before returning to their table.  Not 5 minutes later, the waiter showed up with a bottle of Cristal, compliments of the business men!

2) How did you celebrate birthdays while growing up?
My Mom always had my presents on the dining room table when I came downstairs in the morning.  There would be balloons and streamers all over the place.  At night, I got to choose what I wanted to eat (either a meal at home, or the restaurant of my choosing).

3) Do you get excited for your birthday still?
Absolutely!  As you can tell, I'm someone who absolutely loves their birthday.  I don't need a single present, I just like that it's my birthday.  I'll don't think that'll change - I don't see myself getting bothered with getting older.  I'll be the person to go, "Hey, guess what?  I turn 40 next week!"

4) How do you celebrate your birthday as a grown up?
Dinner with friends, sometimes going out for a few drinks and dancing.  Two of my colleagues are taking me out to lunch today, which is sweet of them.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?
I've gotten some great ones, but I think the most perfect was the ice cream maker that BF got me for my birthday the first year we were together (only 2 months after we started dating).

6) Do you like when your birthday is, or would you prefer a different day/month?
I hate being a Christmas baby.  There's so many downsides and no upsides.  I've always wanted to be born in the summer so I could have a pool party or something when I was a kid.

7) What's your astrological sign?  Do you believe in that stuff?
Sagittarius.  I'm supposed to love to travel, be adventurous, enthusiastic, fickle, a little outspoken, fearless, sharp, over-confident, and independent.  I'd say it's quite accurate, but I do think the descriptions are rather general and not necessarily caused by when you're born.  I don't believe in horoscopes, though I find them entertaining.

My 16th birthday was really fun. We went to this dairy farm and hung out there (I was / am still obsessed with cows). We played putt-putt and ate tasty ice cream and fed some goats and hung out with cows

Usually I concoted some scheme to hang out with my friends- dinner, movies, sleepovers, etc. When I was really little I was totally into the 'theme' type birthday parties.

No not really. It's just another day of work now.

Usually just a nice dinner out with friends / family.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?

I don't really remember anything I've gotten for my birthday. Except BF got me a hot rock massage thing this past year. It's really great!

It's a pretty good time- April. Sometimes it's on Good Friday though and that's kind of depressing. Or on Easter and it gets overshadowed. I really don't know how you ladies survive Christmas/New Years bdays.

Aries. Somewhat I suppose.

I don't think I have a favorite..poo. The year we had it at the 50's McDonalds and everyone had to dress up??

On my 17th birthday I got a promise ring from BF, so it would have to be that.

2) How did you celebrate birthdays while growing up?
I always had theme parties... Spice Girls when I was 7, Harry Potter when I was 9, Grease when I was 14.  On our birthdays we always got to pick what was for supper, have cake, and open presents on our actual birthday and had our school/friend birthday parties on one of the weekends on either side of our birthdays.

3) Do you get excited for your birthday still?
Yes, I love birthdays still.

4) How do you celebrate your birthday as a grown up?
Well, I've only had two "grown up" birthdays.  This past year I went out to supper with my mom, sister, and boyfriend and ordered a drink since it was my first day legal.  I was carded and wished happy birthday by our waitress, who later came out with free dessert for me.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?
My ring from BF is my favourite in recent years.  I seemed pretty damn excited in pictures of my 2nd birthday about my stuffed Barney toys and my Beauty and the Beast things haha.

6) Do you like when your birthday is, or would you prefer a different day/month?
I wasn't a fan of it being in September when I was younger, because I was jealous about the fact that my sister's birthday always fell in March Break.  Now I'm quite content with it.

7) What's your astrological sign?  Do you believe in that stuff?
I'm a Virgo-Libra cusp, as far as I can tell.  I always thought Virgo didn't quite fit me growing up, since I was a bit of a daydreamer in addition to being a perfectionist.  A mix of the two fits me much better.

When I was six, I asked my mother what a virgin was because I was very confused by "Virgo the Virgin".  She was kind of flustered before she realized why I was asking it.  The fact that she and my sister were fish and my dad was a sea-goat seemed to make a lot more sense to me.

Hmmm, hard to decide. My BF having a party for my last birthday was nice.

Pretty low key, birthdays aren't big in my family.

To be honest, I've never gotten excited for my birthday. I think it is an extension from my family not making a big deal out of them.

I had my birthday at Disney one year, although I'm not sure that was planned as a gift or not.

I like when my birthday is now, but it sucked as a kid because when i was little we didn't keep in touch with school friends during the summer...not until we were older.

Not really, I should have been a virgo but am actually a leo. When I read either I can definitely see bits and pieces are true.

1) What's your favorite birthday memory?
Hmm...I'm not sure. Nothing really stands out in my mind.

2) How did you celebrate birthdays while growing up?
I'd usually have a party with friends at my parents house, and then have a party with my family (grandparents, sisters, parents) with cake and presents as well.

3) Do you get excited for your birthday still?
Sometimes. Depends on what my plans are. BF did a great job planning a celebration for me this year, which I wasn't looking forward to, but had a blast.

4) How do you celebrate your birthday as a grown up?
Kinda the same as I did as a kid. There's still a 'family' party, and I still do something with friends.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?
I got an heirloom piece of jewelry from my grandparents. It's pretty much the best present ever and I love it.

6) Do you like when your birthday is, or would you prefer a different day/month?
I'd prefer to be in the summer. My sister got pool parties growing up (June baby), and I got to be stuck inside. I'd still love to be able to have a BBQ for my birthday or go camping, but that doesn't work when you're born in November. It's also just a little too close to Christmas. If I think of something I want/need in May, I either have to buy it, or go without for another 6 months. It'd be easier to come up with things I wanted for both Christmas and my birthday if they were spaced out.

7) What's your astrological sign?  Do you believe in that stuff?
Scorpio. I don't believe in it at all, and I actually don't even know what a scorpio is supposed to be like.

My 18th birthday, my dad got me tickets to go see Rent. He took me and we saw the show (one of my favorites) and on the way out of the theater, he insisted that we go to the stage door so I could get some autographs. By the time we got there, all the actors were gone. So, we're driving through downtown Cleveland and we're at a stop light and we see the three leads crossing the street in front of us. My dad runs the red light and pulls over to the side of the road, hops out of the car, and proceeds to ask them if I could get their autographs because Rent was my favorite show of all time. So, they laugh and they start signing my program. One of the guys comments how I looked really pretty (I had this dress on that my mom had picked out for me to wear to the show) and my dad pipes up that it's my 18th birthday. The actors look at each other and bust out into an impromptu, accapella, harmonized rendition of Happy Birthday. Needless to say, my dad was officially the coolest dad on the planet, and I was the coolest kid in my senior class for about a week.

2) How did you celebrate birthdays while growing up?
We always had a big family cookout, and every other year, my parents let me have a seperate party with my friends.

3) Do you get excited for your birthday still?
Normally, yes. I honestly get more excited about other people's birthdays.

4) How do you celebrate your birthday as a grown up?
FI and my birthdays are two weeks apart, so we usually celebrate together. Dinner out with friends or going downtown to the bars is usually the plan.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?
Disney season passes from FI this year. It's been awesome to be able to go this year and not have to worry about ticket costs.

I'm happy with where my birthday lands.

I hate it. It's so hard to get people together in December because there are too many other things going on. I always thought June was nice. As a kid, you're still in school so you can invite your school friends. The weather is nice, and it's far from any major holidays. September would work for the same reasons.

My 18th birthday was my first year in college and I had just started and made some (now lifelong) friends.  Well they planned a big surprise day that started with waking me up before class, shooting me with silly string and decorating my room.  It was awesome! Then we all went out and had a good time.  It was really great to have just met these girls and to have them celebrate with me.

2) How did you celebrate birthdays while growing up?
When I was in elementary school we used to go to Friendly's and I would have a joint party with my brother and his friends where we would all make our own sundaes. 

3) Do you get excited for your birthday still?
Sort of.  Maybe milestones like me 25th but other than that its really just another day, I'm just one year older.

4) How do you celebrate your birthday as a grown up?
Normally dinner with DH and possibly out with some friends for a night.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?
Best present is by far this years and I haven't gotten it yet! We're going to see my fav. hockey team play right after Christmas and we are sitting 4th row behind the glass! I cant wait to see the sweat!

6) Do you like when your birthday is, or would you prefer a different day/month?
I like when my birthday is.  I wish my brother's was different (a year and 3 days younger) so I didnt have to "share" every single one of my birthdays.  The only problem is that every few years or so my birthday falls on a Jewish high holiday so I can't do anything for the day.

Virgo and I fit the "profile" to a T.

Happy Birthday Cate!!

1) What's your favorite birthday memory?

When I turned 18, my friends threw me a surprise birthday party in my friend's basement.  She made me chocolate covered popcorn. 

I had been going through a really rough time at the time because my father was separating from Wife #2.  Wife #2 was making my life a living hell.  One day, I came home from school and was having a rough day, so I made myself chocoalte covered popcorn on my fondue set.  I was planning on eating this popcorn while watching Dr. Phil.  I left the kitchen for two minutes to use the bathroom, and when I came back into the kitchen, Wife #2 had just finished dumping my chocolate covered popcorn into the trash.

So, when my friend made me the chocolate covered popcorn, it was such a nice gesture...I cried.  I still tear up when I think about it.

 2) How did you celebrate birthdays while growing up?

Usually, I would have a "kid" birthday party and a family party.

3) Do you get excited for your birthday still?

Yes.  I like that I can be overdressed that day.  Everyone remembers to call me and say hi.  Sometimes I'll still get gifts...and FI always puts out.  It's a good day.

 4) How do you celebrate your birthday as a grown up?

FI and I usually go out to dinner, with or without friends.

5) What's the best birthday present you've ever received?

FI took me on a cruise for my 21st birthday.  That was a REALLY nice gift.

I like it.  It's still a bit cold in March, but that's ok!

I'm a Pisces.  Most people who are just getting to know me are very surprised by this.  However, those that know me well can see it.  As for believing it...I don't NOT believe it.

Throwing big parties at my Grandpa's farm and inviting everyone including extended family.
