Blog? Yeah, that. Haha. Between Gavin, the hubs, school, the house, and life in general, I haven't posted on my blog since BEFORE he was born. Whoops.

Our basic update:

Gavin is a truly happy baby. He is always smiling and laughing. He is also HUGE. Quite literally huge. He is going to be 6-months-old next week and is in 18-month clothing. He will be crawling soon. He can scoot backwards, both on his tummy and his back. He can roll over both ways. It has all come too quickly. I cannot get enough of him.

Our house is coming along. The hubs is amazing in all that he can do. Our kitchen is almost done. And I have a completely drool-worthy custom island.

I am kicking ass in school.

How are you? How's your little bean? When is your anatomy scan? Are you finding out?

I am doing well, work and the hubs keep me busy. We have been working on the nursey quite a bit lately too since we are trying to keep it gender nerutal. The Anatomy scan is scheduled for 3/31 and I am so excited we can't wait to find out what we are having. The little bean is doing great I cian't wait to meet him/her but will let it bake for a while longer.

Mr Man is so cute. I love the cloth diapers too. I am really hIoping can get my MIL to cloth diaper while LO is at her house 3 days a week. Dh is on board for it but his mom not so much. What is your favorite thing about CDing? Best brand you have found?

What's the advantage of cloth diapers? Is there a benefit to the baby, or simply the environment?

Just curious! My first instinct is that it would be gross to deal with, no? But then I guess there's nothing glamorous about bodily fluids!

I think that once your MIL sees how easy CDing is today, compared to the past, she will be on board. Plus if she is coming to your house, there won't be anything for her to do. If you use pockets or AIOs, they have the same ease as a disposable.

Right now, we mainly use Fuzzi Bunz and BGs 4.0. They are both pocket diapers. I also have several varying inserts that I use depending on how long we'll be out, naptime, just kicking it at the house, etc. For me, this is the main benefit to pockets. You can really change the absorbency of the diaper to fit your needs. At night, we either use a pocket with 2 microfiber inserts and 1 hemp insert OR we use sbish fitteds with wool covers.

For me, the benefits of cding are more selfish. Disposables creep me out. The chemicals/technology that is put into them these days is just not natural. Nothing should hold that much fluid. My gut just said that I didn't want that near my kid's junk. (Haha.) Recently I found a good post that backs up my gut feelings.
http://allaboutclothdiapers.com/are-disposable-diapers-really-that-bad/

I also thought about how much I hated using pads. Personally, I always thought that they were uncomfortable and just ugh. Why would I basically put a big pad on my child? How comfortable could that be? Cloth diapers are softer and just seem more cuddly/baby bum friendly.

Another huge benefit is that we have less rashes and less blowouts. For the short time that we were using disposables, we had at least 1 blowout a day and his skin was frequently irritated. Since we've been using cloth (almost 4 months,) I can count the # of blowouts on 1 hand. Plus he hasn't had a diaper rash in them.

As for the grossness factor, gross goes out the window with a baby. You are going to be dealing with poop either way. I don't have to touch it anymore than I would if we were using disposables. I have my washing routine down to a science now but I won't pretend that it didn't take a bit of experimenting with my washer to get there. And technically, you are not supposed to dispose of any bodily waste in the trash. People are supposed to scrape all poop into the toilet, disposable OR cloth.

TB actually has a good CDing board. Here are their FAQs. It includes a lot of the frequently used acronyms.

Sorry BBB, I've gotten behind, I don't think I'm really all that interesting! I'll do it here instead.

How far along? 17 weeks
Weight gain/loss: +3 pounds
Maternity clothes? My pants don't close anymore but my BeBand has worked although I'm starting to get uncomfortable. I think it's time to buy some maternity pants.
Sleep? I'm finally awake!
Best moment this past week? Hearing the baby's heartbeat! We also scheduled our anatomy scan for April 5 Laughing.
Food cravings: Anything and everything. I'm trying to stay under control...
Sex: We will find out on April 5!
Belly button in or out? In
Movement: I don't think so, I thought I had last week but I think it was just gas because there hasn't been anything since.
What I miss? My favorite work dress that didn't zip passed my b00bs today.
What I'm looking forward to this week: Possibly feeling movement soon!

I tried to add a picture of my growing gut but TK won't let me. Sorry.

You may not have to crash. Well, at least not for the reason of babynapping.
Will you be in town the weekend of the 26th? We are going to Phoenix for a wedding. I don't know the exact plans or if I can even break away because it is DH's friend's wedding. (Actually, it is Gavin's namesake. ) DH has been lax about making the plans, and we have a deal (your friends/events, you make the plans. Haha.) Once I know more, I will shoot you a line.

Thank you! I did decide on nursing school. I am finishing up my pre-reqs while waiting to move up the waitlist. I was admitted, but there is a long freaking line and they don't bump people ahead for being awesome.
April 5th? Woot! It will be here before you know it.

Mutley, Thanks mut for answering my Qs. I've been looking into Fuzzi Bunz and am ready to order but DH is being the logical one and saying ask people to get them for you (although I'd rather not hear everyones opinions) I hate disposables even when I'm watching other people's children and I honestly believe that the chemicals used in sposies are what begins many other health problems.

Yeah my blog kind of crashed and burned. Embarassed I got too busy with school and work that I haven't even thought about updating it lately. We're going to start working on the nursery soon so maybe that'll be a good blog update to come back with :)

Update for me is that everything is going really well with Lil'Miss - she's healthy and active. I have a low-lying placenta so my doc has me on pelvic rest but otherwise everything is going great. DH and I are going to NYC next week and I'm SO excited! We're in need of a vacation and it'll be nice to get away for awhile :)

KD! You look great! BBB we need a belly pic from you too! Here's a crappy cell phone pic of me I just took

Edit: You posted while I was posting BBB - you look great!

Aww Thanks desert. There hasn't been much progress since we found out I was KU. A little more pudge but that is just baby moving my organs around. I've lost weight and can't seem to gain any back, no matter what I eat. I just feel like I would be showing by now.
