Not Engaged Yet

Where can I sign up for Patience Pants?

So, I haven't been around to post for the last four weeks thanks to meeting BF's family in FL, Christmas, school in Dallas, and no internet access, but I've been trying to keep up with everything.

Congrats Meg!!!! And YAY becunning for starting student teaching!! I hope you love every minute of it. :) Bri, I love your new tat!!

Over the break, my mom and dad decided they wanted to help us out with a ring, since Bob is having huge job issues right now. I didn't think we'd find anything and I felt weird accepting my parent's help with this part of everything. But, my mom showed me my great grandmother's ring from 1910 and I fell in love. She gave me my other great grandmother's ring with 6 diamonds in it and said take it, use which ever. THEN, my dad came in and gave us one of his wedding rings and asked us to sell the gold to put towards the ring and that we could keep the diamond in it.  Bob and I want to use the stone from my dad's ring in Bob's ring, when that time comes.

Fast forward: Bob picked up the ring last week while I was at school and now has it somewhere. He's super excited, which makes me nervous, all the time!! I've done exceptionally well keeping my mouth shut and not asking questions, but I'm still really excited!

  • That is so incredibly sweet of your parents to help you out like that! Heirloom rings/diamonds are so special (I have an heirloom diamond in my e-ring myself). I can't wait to see the sparklies when the time comes! In the meantime, take up a hobby. Whenever you feel yourself getting antsy about the lack of ring, take up your hobby - crochet, knit, embroider, latchhook. Take your mind off it :)

  • Just enjoy this time you have together. Yes, the proposal is life changing.... but planning a wedding is not puppies and rainbows. In fact, other than the dress part and cake tasting, it's been a giant PIA.

Now, forget they even exist!! :-)

Thanks for the tattoo love :-)

How did meeting the parents go??

  • I actually was meeting the beloved extended family and road tripped for 16 hours with his parents. That wasn't near as bad as I thought it was going to be, considering the four of us shared a hotel room and everything. His family is awesome!! They're super sweet and really loud and crazy. Bad thing: His mom told everyone we were engaged. That really pissed me off and he called her out on it later where she denied it at first.

Nursery, that's something I have to keep telling him! He's all giddy and I'm like ugghhh wedding planning comes next! Bleh. I've hung around long enough to know it's a PITA.

My hobby at the moment: playing with my dog since I've been gone for a week and making crosses out of anything I can find for our fundraiser this Sunday.

THIS.  All of this.  I hate wedding planning and while not everyone does, it is not a cake walk.
But I love that you guys are using heirloom rings, just love it!

  • Awwwww, thanks!  I am totally loving student teaching right now. :)  I pretty much get to talk about Latin all day, and that's awesome!

Your parents are super awesome for helping out like that!  I'm glad that went so smoothly for you.  And now... you must find patient pants and enjoy the knowledge that your relationship is so fantabulous that your BF wants to be with you forever!
