We set a date AND finalized our budget!

The title says it all.  We'll be getting married in Boston on August 4, 2012.  We also finalized our budget.  We have a very good idea of the venue we want, so now we need to go see it & book it.  Two years in advance is plenty of time right?

Congrats!    Many girls will tell you that you won't know your date for sure until you've signed a contract with a venue - it might turn out none of your preferred venues have that date available.  Though two years in advance, that's probably not likely!

When are you going to look at venues?  Very exciting!

Congrats on making some big decisions and enjoy looking at venues! That was my favorite part when we looked for my sister's wedding.

Just don't go on the "Month" boards, Panda.  I've lurked on August/Sept 2012 since that's when we want to get married, and those girls have a ton of things booked and dresses bought!  Crazy!  Even if I get engaged sometime before next summer, I promise the only thing I'd do before a year out is book a venue!

I have been over there a bit because that is when we have planned on getting married too. They sure do have a lot of stuff planned. I have commented a few times... mainly to flower questions (like I have said before, I work at a florist). If a bride came in for FLOWERS that early we would be a little surprised. Some time for October 2nd came in on Saturday!  There are all kinds of brides and timelines!

Yay for setting a date and a budget!

I need to stop going to the March 2011 board so much.  Even though I already have a ton of stuff done, seeing what everyone else has done (way more than me and they're all stressing that they don't have more) has got me stressing big time.  Between that and a comment from one of my BM's that I was going to drive her crazy (I'm sure she didn't mean to hurt me with the comment and my other BM's have assured me I am not being a pest and have reminded me that this particular BM is very pregnant and to just ignore most of what she says right now, she doesn't mean it) it certainly makes me glad I only have 5 1/2 months left and very thankful I haven't been planning for a year or more like some on the March 2011 board.  So, definitely, don't hang out on your month board that often

Angie, I know how you feel! When we first got engaged and picked October, I started lurking on my club board. All it did was stress me out! These girls already had invitations, dresses, cakes, flowers, practically everything! I have gotten everything together and occasionally go on that board but I just couldn't stay on there because it gave me such anxiety about being so far behind them all!

I'm going to call the venue we want and see if we can take a look at it this weekend.  Once we have that figured out, we'll get a church.  Then I can stop worrying about the wedding until after finals.

Thanks - glad to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.  My mom told me yesterday we're going to sit down this week, take all the suggested to-do lists from everywhere and make our own check-list based on our needs and comfort levels so I can stop looking at all of those and stop getting as stressed out.
