Gym and the E-ring

Good morning and Happy Friday Ladies!

I was at the gym this morning before work and while I was there I was thinking, what do you ladies or what would you ladies do with your e-ring when you're at the gym?  Do you wear it while working out?  Lock it up in a locker with your things?  Leave it at home?

I ask cause I go to the gym before work and leave to work from there or I go right after work.  Certain activities like spin and running I would think would be ok to wear an e-ring, but when it come to doing resistance work and weights I would think wearing an e-ring to be an issue.  But if you have an e-ring then you wouldn't leave it at home for the day.

I am very interested in what other knotties have done or will do.  I'm a fairly active person, but I know that surfing, mountain biking and snow boarding are not times to be wearing an e-ring.  Love to hear your two cents.

I hate wearing it when I work out.  It slides around a lot when I sweat, and I'm afraid it's going to fly off my hand.

I'll either leave it at home (if I go home between work and gym) or inside a locked locker in the gym.  I leave the rest of my valuable stuff there (backpack, purse, etc.), so if I trust a locker for that stuff, I trust it for my e-ring.

Well if I am doing just cardio or legs I wear it no problem but if I am doing weights I will sometimes wear gloves and slid the ring out on top so the bottom is protected from the weight, but most of the time I  will just leave it home or in your case I would do like sunbird said and put it on a necklace I would deff not leave it in a locker, locked or not I dont trust that. You never know what people will do....

I wear mine. I'm going to be wearing it for my whole life, and if my life includes the gym why not?

I generally leave all of my jewelry locked in a locker. Like Noelle said, I leave my purse and other valuables in there, so it's safe enough. It's not like you can always leave everything at

I wear my ring all the time for all activities... which is why I told FI before he got my ring that I wanted something practical for everyday wear and specified I needed a low setting and round stones (doesn't snag on things or strach myself or others)... amazingly enough, he listened!

I wear mine, unless I know I'm going swimming...I'm always worried I'll lose it in the pool.

If you're really concerned leave it safe at home in the box

I take my rings off if I'm using free weights but not for cardio.

ETA: I usually only do cardio at the gym. I have free weights at home. So I'm not taking them off in the middle of a workout or anything. :)

I also take them off when I shower, b/c our drain cover is not screwed in and slides off sometimes. If the drain where I'm washing my hands isn't covered, I also take my rings off then. I stuff them in my bra if I don't have a pocket. Classy, I know. ;)

But other than that, I wear them all day every day, even when I sleep.

I have a higher setting with lots of prong-set sidestones. I've never had a single problem with it snagging on anything or scratching me or anyone else.

I know an ER nurse who has a higher setting, and she wears her rings to work every day without a problem.

So, don't feel like you HAVE to have a lower setting if you work with your hands a lot. If you like a higher setting, go for it.

I wear mine the whole time for all gym activities.

My ring is pretty sizeable, but I don't even notice it anymore. You'll get used to it if you want to.

I take off my ring all the time. As soon as I get home, it goes in the box. I don't wear it at the gym, I normally would just throw it on my watch band.

    I'm a bad FI :(

I don't wear much jewelry so i'm very particular about routines.  I have a place for my earrings and my necklace and bracelet when I come home and when I shower.  So that way I can never misplace something.  I'm sure those first few weeks or months I'll end up wearing the ring on a corded rope like a necklace or on my hand depending on the activity, then if I feel comfortable I'll leave it locked up in my locker.  I just wonder if I'll feel awkward wearing a sparkly ring on my finger when I'm sweating like a pig on the bike or elliptical or lifting weights with the menfolk.  Well its something that I'll have to get over.  At least I can take comfort knowing I'm not the only person who is wearing their e-ring at the gym.

I take my ring off for swimming in lakes or oceans.  At least in a pool, you might be able to find it again.  I also take it off to shower or to wash dishes.  I would hate to lose it down the drain.  I'm super clumsy, so I don't trust myself not to do something stupid.

Andplusalso, it's really bad to wear a ring in cholrine (sp?) it eats away at the prongs and there's a chance of losing one of your diamonds. Moral of my story chlorine + rings= BAD!

I feel like my ring is more safe and secure on my finger than anywhere else...  I tend to freak about about having "lost" something that is right under my nose, haha.  I hate not having it on, it feels so weird... plus FI hates if it isn't on me.

One day I pulled the drain plug in the sink and hand the ring in my hand cleaning it and he walked in and freaked out... I was like "dude, I pulled the plug... relax" and he was like "not until its back on your finger, I don't like it anywhere but there"... I laughed and finished cleaning it then put it on.  He proceeded to wipe the (fake) sweat from his brow and said "don't scare me like that, and don't call me Dude!"  Haha.

I take my ring off when I go to the gym. I usually leave it at home or I will lock it in the locker. I feel like it will fall off when I'm all sweaty and I most def do not what it on when I'm doing weights.

    lol @ DWEST

I take a pole dancing class every week and I struggled with the same thing. From now on whenever I work out or go to my classes I just put it on a necklace that I wear everyday. It's easier and the only other time I take it off is when I sleep.

I haven't been to the gym yet since I got engaged (I know....I'm a slacker).  But the only time I really take it off is when we go diving.

I might be in the minority, but I don't wear my ring all the time.  I usually take it off when I'm in the house.  I rarely leave the house without it.  I wear my ring to the gym when I'm doing cardio.  I wouldn't wear it if i were going to lift weights.  I also don't wear it if I go running (really walk/run) in the park.
