How cold is too cold?

I'm trying to type and my fingers are freezing! It's 64 in here (18 for my Canadian friends), and I'm seriously considering turning the heat on. In the last week I've put the comforter back on the bed and even got out my heated mattress pad.

At what point is it cold enough for you to turn on the heat?

The cold fingers is a good time to turn on heat. I work from home so if I'm cold and can't type, then I can't work. I'll try to use jackets, blankets, but if I'm still chilled, then I turn on the heat. I do love my electric blanket though. It's my best friend. I also try to hold out if I'm cold though because I have hypothyroidism, so even though I'm cold, the rest of the population usually isn't ... I've learned to wear layers.

It pretty much has to get down to freezing for me to want to turn the heat on but I prefer to wrap up in blankets rather than turn up the heat.

I'm cold at 65...like shivering.  But I swear it has to do with the fact that I'm from CA.

I like my thermostat around 70 year round. 68 is good for sleeping, but not day time activities (unless they are sweaty Wink lol) I would turn it up to like maybe 72 during the day and then off at night, but that's just me.

I am a little chilly right now and it's in the 70s.  Haha.  But, the heat will not be turned on.  I actually turned the air off and opened the windows earlier.  I may have to put the comforter on the bed tonight since we're having a "cold front" and all.  Wink

I'm with Beth... I sleep with the windows open all winter. I still haven't turned the heat on in my apartment, and it's been below freezing a couple of times here already. I have turned on the electric fireplace a few times, but not the heat yet!!

BF likes to keep things warmer than I do. I would be perfectly happy just putting on a sweater and snuggling under a blanket with some tea in order to keep the thermostat at around 17*/18*. He prefers to have things up around 24* (75.5*F), which I think is way too warm, because then I need to change from a sweater into a t-shirt when I come in from outside. I also think it makes the transition from inside to outside more harsh.

I turned our heat on once it got into the 40s.

I turn my heat on when it is necessary to keep the pipes from freezing. lol. Our heat is super expensive because of poor insulation so we try to wait as long as possible. Even then we only keep it at 60.

We're super cheap so we never turn the heat on. It's in the 50's in my house right now and I aint turnin' it on (not that we're sure if our heater works or anything...). I do turn on my electric blanket at night though. If I'm cold while I sleep, that's when I turn it on. I don't know if there's a specific temperature for that :P

But, I grew up in the nountains so being cold doesn't bother me as much as many others. Heat, however (as in teh SUmmer kind)...I can't stand that!

I'm always cold. If it's below 70 in the house I feel like my hands are going to fall off. I'm almost always wearing a hoodie inside in the winter and sometimes I have a blanket draped on my legs too.

Work is insane, it's always way too cold in my office. I have a portable heater and it's on for most of my workday, and I always have a sweater and some socks on. Whenever it actually feels comfortable in the office most the women start complaining about how hot it is, and call maintenance, and then it turns into a fridge again.
