Memories of a bored girl

I was down at my barn today and was thinking about everything that triggers my memories...When I smell my horse it reminds me of when I was a little girl and wouldn't get off the horse to let my Gmpa show and he would take the saddle off to get me down.

When I see Matlock on TV it's almost like seeing my Gmpa since we used to watch it everyday growing up.

When I taste sweet tea it brings me right back to my Grma's kitchen.

What's your sight/taste/smell triggers for memories??
When is my wedding

The smell of the yankee candle "sun and sand" (which smells a lot like sunblock) reminds me of my annual family vacations to a tiny lake in Ontario, Canada :) Man, I miss those times!

The pear lotion from victoria secret reminds me of my older sister when she would get ready to go to her high school every morning when I was a kid.

The smell of cooking garlic or cooking onions reminds me of my mother, who is a chef. She's always in the kitchen.

The smell of a leather reminds me of my father, who passed away 2 years ago.

Anything flowery or light reminds me of one of my best friends, who is very girly and cute. Whenever she would leave my house, my room would smell like her for hours. Is that creepy?

Get this.  I have NO sense of smell.  Never have.  Not even the tiniest bit.  I have no idea what it is like to smell and my FI has an insane sense of smell.  He can smell the strangest things.

As far as memories, anytime I'm flipping through the channels and see CMT, it reminds me of my Grandpa - he had that on ALL the time.

And popcorn balls remind me of my great grandmother.  That was always what she made for Halloween and I couldn't wait to get to go to her house and get them.  I've never had a popcorn ball as good as hers were...

I hope people here know what cornhole is.  If not, google it.

Anyway, real cornhole bags are made with cornfeed in them. (What you feed livestock.)
I hadn't really noticed much before, but we were playing outside this summer, really late in the night, and the bags seemed to get a little damp.
When they got damp, I could smell the cornfeed, and it took me back to my Papa's farm when I was like 5.  He had a small barn that he kept the corn in that he used to feed the animals.
It was kind of a shock, because it was a memory I hadn't thought about in a LONG time.
He passed away in March, and this was in July, AND I was drunk...so I had a moment where I really couldn't play, and just sat there smelling the bags with tears in my eyes.  Yup, everyone thought I lost it.

Ozonol.  I dunno if anyone knows what this smells like but it's strong and old and kind of weird.  I love it.  LOVE IT.  Any time I smell it, it takes me right back to my grandpa.  Any skinned knees, cuts, bruises, anything...we go Ozonol.

Also, Crabtree and Evelyn powder or anything lavender...smells like grandma.

FFIL has this massive passenger van that we affectionaltely call the rolling turd. It smells exactly like my Grandma's Econoline van did when I was a little kid.

I know cornhole, only cause I have a friend who is from Ohio and when she moved out here to California she brought it with her.  It was a smash hit game to play when we had summer BBQs.

Smelling the farm makes me think of going to the farm as a kid. Sometimes certain cologne will make me think of ex's - same with certain songs. I can't think of much off hand, but random smells will trigger random memories.
