Backyard Ceremony

We will be having our ceremony in our back yard (which is pretty big).  I need ideas on how to play the music for when I walk down the isle.  Also, should I be using a mic and speakers so that everyone at the ceremony can hear "The Ceremony".  HELP!

Unless your guest list is huge, people should be able to hear the ceremony.  We had about 125ish people in a park.  Setup was very similar to a backyard gathering, and there wasn't a problem with amplification.

As long as you have seating for everyone, and people aren't just standing around, it will be pretty quiet.
  • honestly, I'd test it out.  Stand where you plan on standing for the ceremony and have someone stand as far back as you plan the seating to go.  See if they can hear you if you talk normally.  I personally hate going to weddings and not being able to hear.  Especially when the officiant is miced but the B&G aren't and they write their own vows.  Also take into consideration other noise that will happen (airplanes, trucks, screaming babies, whatever).

I agree with this.  Also keep in mind that if you use amplifiers, you might be too loud.  Check and see if your neighborhood has noise ordinances or other volume regulations, and make sure your volume is audible but doesn't violate any local rules or laws.
