Bridesmaid dress ideas

Hey everyone. I am getting married April,2011. My colors are Watermelon Pink and Pool Blue. I have bought the dress from boncyboutique. My Maid of Honor is wearing a Watermelon Pink dress with a Pool Blue sash around her waist while my other two bridesmaids are wearing a Pool Blue dress with a Watermelon Pink sash around their waists. Do you think this would look good and be ok?

Are these dress shades from David's Bridal? I think I need to see the colors to make sure I'm imagining the right shades. :)

I'd have to see the exact colors, but if it's like I'm thinking, then I think it sounds nice. :) Definitely a different combination, but it seems to work out in my head.

Hey rose, congrats! Do you have pictures you can post or point us to? Those are fun colors, but in my imagination, they're kind of clashing. Would love to see a pic.

    Agreed, pics would be helpful.
Most ppl are "visual learners" (i.e., need to see pictures), rather than "auditory learners" (i.e. speaking out loud, or in this case typing, what something looks like).  If that makes sense.

I think in general if you have 2 colors, having people with dress in one color/sash in another color, and vice versa, is usually ok.

I'm assuming this is the knot mis-posting something that belongs over on Attire? Or a month board? I don't recognize you, OP, so I'm assuming you're not one of our NEY regs. You may want to re-post where you intended this to go.

I think that if those are the colors you like, the vice versa will be fine. I can't say I think it would look good, since we can't SEE your colors. I suspect however that your colors are not MY taste. "Looking good" is completely subjective. YOU have to be happy with how it looks.

Agreed with the need for pictures. I <3 Watermelon colored dresses, pool blue I'm kind of on the fence since I cant decide what shade that is.

I think it will look perfectly fine. It sounds like you already bought them/had them buy them, so can't change it really I suppose, right?

But it sounds pretty. If it's the poolish blue color I'm picturing and the pinkish color I'm picturing, I Think it will be nice. But my mind works in David's Bridal color schemes.

Well, all guys, also there's some different idea, but sounds uniqueSmile:
Sure, that sounds great. Go for it.

Since you are in the early stages of planning, allow me to suggest an alternative.

Many brides think they have to choose two colors: a dominant color and an accent. There's nothing wrong with that. Many beautiful weddings are built around just that type of color scheme.

However, I like the idea of a color palette. Instead of just the dominant color and one accent, think of a palette of colors. My suggestion is to go to a paint store, get paint color chips in your chosen colors, cut them apart and mix and match. You would have a range of blues and pinks, plus perhaps some complimentary greens and yellows, in your palette. This way, you can work with blues and pinks offered by your caterer that don't EXACTLY match the bridesmaid dresses.

In my personal opinion, a range of colors is more visually interesting than just everything in just two colors. An additional consideration is that when you are planning the wedding, sure, you think in terms of the blue and pink. At the actual wedding, however, you'll have a mix of colors because your guests will come in a whole bunch of random colors. Your chosen colors will be visually diluted by the colors in the guests' clothing.

You certainly can stick with two colors if you like, but I'm just giving you some food for thought.
