Girly-stuff complaints (probably TMI)

I'mma share, and you guys can share if you want, but OMG you know I can't keep anything to myself.

I am having my first period in like 7 months. The birth control I'm on (Loestrin 24) is taking its job VERY seriously. My gyno put me on this pill to make my periods "lighter and shorter" to correct my little anemia problem (by little I mean severe).

Totally nonexistent periods is more like it.... which is cool. I like not having a period.

BUT.... now I have one (forgot a couple of pills at the beginning of the month) and BOY is it a doozie. I forgot how much this SUCKED. I could lay on the couch in a ball all day watching sappy romance movies and eating chocolate and complaining to my cats about my cramps..........

No freaking wonder I felt like I was having such a bad week last week! It was PMS!

Hello, PMS! I forgot all about you. It's been nice not having you around. Please to go away now, kthx.

I stopped taking BC pills this past summer, and was in total shock the first time I had a period afterwards.  I laid down on the floor in a ball and cried the cramps hurt so bad.  BF (at the time) had never known me when I wasn't on the pill, and looked scared to death that I was dying.  Apparently it was just really bad because I hadn't had them in a few years and wasn't used to it, because as I am off the pill longer and longer, they don't seem to hurt as badly.  But yea, the first one was a shock to my entire system with the cramps and just...everything that the pill had been stopping for years.

Luckily, my acne hasn't come back, which is the reason that I went on the pill in the first place, so hopefully my hormones have sufficiently righted themselves to where that won't be an issue again.

Ugh. I'm sorry. It sucks. I hope your  cramps aren't too bad. The chocolate should help though Tongue out

My cramps get really bad. My legs get sore and everything..ugh. I used to be on lowestrin, then they changed it  because my period was messing up and I've been on my new bc for a couple months and it's still messing up. Not as much as the first month on the new bc, but I'll still have to get an ultrasound whenever my stupid insurance gets renewed.

PMS sucks. Mine isn't as bad the week before than it is the week of!

My legs ache, too. And all my joints. And I'm constantly HUNGRY..... I am trying to resist that urge.

Maybe I will give in and get some fried eggplant tonight or something. Fried anything sounds good.

I had to take 3 Midol this morning to get a handle on things.

*hugs everybody* Being a girl SUCKS sometimes!

*hugs*  When I have my period, I usually crave chinese food(specifically crab/cream cheese wontons)
And midol doesn't work for me.
Fried food DOES sound good.. now I want to make something fried for dinner instead :(

I get like this too!  For the whole week before my period I can't stop eating.  I read (probably from a scientifically reliable source) that the week before you get your period your body can burn up to 300 extra calories a day.  So eat all of the chocolate you want.  You need it.  Really. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-laughing.gif" border="0" alt="Laughing" title="Laughing" />

UGH! How miserable. I'm sorry you feel like sh*t. I'm on a happy pill that results in a period every 3 months. That part is awesome. The excruciating pain that comes once every 3 months ... I could pass on that part! Hang in there!

My FI tried to convince me the other night that the constant fear of the excruciating pain caused by crushed testicles was worse than getting a period every month.

    Yeah, right.

    Idiot.

Ugh.  I can sympathize.  I used to get HORRID cramps.  Once I went off birth-control, it was bad the first month but got better from there.
A warm bath usually helped me.  If I didn't feel like a bath, I would heat up a washcloth and put that on my abdomen.  Sometimes directing the shower head directly at my uterus helped.

Now, I am dealing with a whole other mess of hormones.  Guys have it sooo easy.  Last night, I told DH that I hated what he did to me. (A semi-joke after hearing a birth story from a friend over the weekend.)  Today has been my worst day yet.  I have moved on to throwing up.  Woot for being pregnant. I keep telling myself 'Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations' and 'this is a good thing.'  I will say that I am eternally grateful that I am not working right now.  I cannot imagine getting through the workday feeling like this.

I have a copper IUD. Which means..... that my body tries to expel it every month. According to my doc, it's like early stage labor. And I like spicy foods, which I don't normally like. go figure.

I have a Mirena IUD. Which means I never get a period heavier than a spot and even that is rare.

Yes I want you to be jealous :P ...but I totally got the thing because I hated my periods with a blind passion and was seriously thinking of having the system removed solely because of them...

Awww jeanna... ::big hugs:: If I could hand deliver you chick flicks and Ben & Jerry's, I totally would. :)

I honestly don't even know what a normal cycle is supposed to be like. With endo, it was living hell for a week each month. To the point where once, a boss asked me why I was taking three straight days off work at the same time each month, and I had to explain to him that I spent those days passed out on the bathroom rug for non-alcoholic reasons. Then, when we tried to initially treat the endo with drugs that stopped my cycle, it put me into "menopause". Now I honestly don't know which is worse - periods or menopause.

Now I'm on continuous BC, and I have swings - I'll have three months of no cycle and virtually no endo symptoms, then I'll have a cycle for, literally, 12 weeks straight. My body has been flipping me the bird for about two years now.

I feel your pain girlie...just get lots of rest and take good care of yourself. :)

Poor Jeana!*HUGS* I totally get your pain, hun! I usually spend a good 3 days a month curled up with a my hot-water-bottle-teddy-bear (BF is a genius!), chocolate and girly movies.

When I was a kid(12-14), before BC, I actually would vomit from pain during that week of the month.  It's not cool...not cool!! Men have it so easy!

Oceana- OMG! I had menopause symptoms for almost 6 months and it was HELL!! I just switched pills last month and so far so good...but it's only been a month so we'll see.  I'm getting an ultrasound to check for *ahem* abnormalities next week. But I remember this and feel your pain!

    ...Sometimes, I hate my uterus.

Paige honey, it's like you read my mind. That's exactly how I was before I got diagnosed. By any chance, are your docs looking at the possibility of endometriosis?

ps. If you ever want to chat about it, be sure to PM me, I'm always here for you girls when you need me! :)

It may be something they are already looking for when they do your scan, but if they're not, I would ask them if it's a possibility (depending on how close your symptoms are to the symptoms associated with endo). Better to check and rule it out, then assume no and find out later yes.
