NEY HR edition

So by now I'm sure you all know that I'm trying to land my dream job. With your help I've written an awesome resume and cover letter, (sent in on 11/15) then followed up with a wonderful email (11/22) and have called my relevant contacts to see if they can put in a good word. Well during one such call, I heard that the dream job had followed up with a past employer (not sure the date, some time in the last week).

However, I still have not heard about an interview. I don't want to come off to strong, so I don't know if a follow up phone call is a good idea. But I do want them to see how enthusiastic I am about the chance to work for them...So what do you ladies think? Should I call the hiring manager? If so, when and what should I say? I've always 'fallen' into my past jobs, so I'm kind of clueless about this sort of thing...

Thanks ladies!!

It's been over a week since you called last- and it seems as if there is a possibility that they are doing some research on you.

So I would say give them a call. Just say you wanted to check in/see how things were going/hoped they had a good thanksgiving and see if there was anything else you could provide them with (references, ect.)

Yeah, give them a call. Maybe ask if they need anything else from you. Sound more helpful rather than, "WHERE IS MY JOB!! TELL ME NOW!"
Used to be bourgehm. +1,500 posts. Silly knot

Ok, so here is my next question- the postition is with a city, so do I call the law director (who was listed as the contact person on one of the job postings) or the woman in HR who does the intake of all resumes and who I personally handed my resume to when I turned it in? FWIW I sent my follow up email to the Law Director....

Ok, so final question- better to leave a voice mail or call back at a later time (1-2 hours later) in hopes of speaking to some one in person?

You definitely want to try to talk to someone. I can't tell you how often HR will ignore voicemails.
