Hey girlies! Back, and awake at 4am since jetlag's an evil mistress.
Absolutely amazing trip - we had weinersnitzel in Vienna, sausages and beer in Munich, and wine and foie gras in Paris. We sadly did not make it to Epernay (Champagne country) due to the train conductor's strike - we were supposed to take a 11 hour overnight trip on a sleeper train, which didn't work out as we planned. They weren't allowed to go past the Paris border, so they stopped the train at 3am, we had to get off and they loaded us onto a bus. The bus took 2 hours longer than the train, so we arrived late in Paris. And there were no trains out to Champagne country, and we hadn't bought tickets yet anyway so we just stayed an extra night in Paris (boo hoo, right? There are worse places to be stuck).
Anyway, I'll post pictures soon! What did I miss? How're the Quadies doing - anyone married yet?!
Obviously, not engaged yet, but I knew that before the trip. I was fine with that, we had a great conversation in Vienna about our future and plans and timelines and such, so things are still as we've planned, on track to get married in Aug/Sept 2012 after he takes the bar exam and get engaged sometime next year. The only time it bothered me even a little was on the plane ride back - the couple behind us had just gotten engaged, and they spent the whole flight writing up a step-by-step account of their trip which they read outloud over and over again. And she was reflecting the light with her ring against the ceiling above me and giggling about it. And the flight attendents gave them a free bottle of champagne and first class meals even though we were in coach. So yeah, that made me a little jealous/annoyed... mostly annoyed. If she kept reflecting that damn light up on my ceiling one more time... I was going to smack her!
Anyway, news from here?
Updated: Some of my favorite pics!
In front of Stephensdom in Vienna
At Augustiner Biergarten in Munich
At Andechs Monestary, a brewery just outside of Munich
What I spent a great deal of time doing - drinking beer!
Obviously in Paris - we had a picnic of a bunch of cheese, a baguette, and a bottle of Bourdeau - it was amazing!
