Whitney Houston

In case you haven't heard already Whitney Houston died. She was 48. I know it sounds silly but I am so incredibly sad right now. She is one of my favorite singers of all time. Growing up I owned ALL of her cassettes. I sang "The Greatest Love of All" to my mom in kindergarten. I just cried about a celebrity for the first time in my life. I'm sad :(

Re: Whitney Houston

  • I just saw this & am watching the news now.  Sooooo sad.  I'd like it to turn out to NOT be drugs but I can't help thinking there's a good chance that's what it was.
  • It really is sad. She has had a rough couple of years and the media didn't make it easy. I was a fan. Am I the only one who is picturing the people on the Grammys committee flipping out and scrambling to put together a Whitney tribute for the show tomorrow? Am I horrible person for that?

  • I just saw, and am completely shocked but also not surprised.  I hope it's not drugs, but I will probably be wrong about that.

  • Yes, this is very sad...hopefully, her music will live on...she really struggled with drugs. Such a shame that such a talent was wasted.
  • Bella, not at all. I was thinking the same thing.

[QUOTE]I had my first "slow dance" in like 6th or 7th grade to 'I Will Always Love You'. Seems like soo many celebrities have passed away in the last few years and sadly a lot of them as a result of drugs/alcohol. It's crazy how much abuse/addiction is a part of the Hollywood lifestyle.

Same here! At summer camp with a boy I thought was cute but all the other girls in my cabin didn't think he was. Then after he was like the only boy willing to slow dance with anyone, he all of a sudden became much more attractive.

It's sad that she died, but given her history, not super surprising unfortunately. My thoughts are with her friends and family.

  • So, last night we were at dinner in DC (my favorite place-Old Ebbitt Grill) anyhow, having an awesome time for my brother's bday when our waiter comes over and whispers to a member of our party, "Whitney Houston just died." Brother's gf and I hear "arrived" not died. So we tell brother she's here and start singing Greatest Love of All really loudly (and pretty obnoxiously) and then notice the weird looks everyone is giving us like we're the most horrid people in the world. What? What did we do?? And then they point out our mistake. And we felt like complete assholes. Yep, I'm that asshole. Oy...I still feel terrible.
