This Bitch.... (Work related vent)

So I manage a subsciber database for a trade magazine at work... According to my job description this database (and the trade publication as a whole)  is 6% of my job.... Sooooo lately, the Editor in Chief of the trade magazine has been looking at the database entries and wondering why the database is so fucked up.... My answer, maybe it has something to do with the 10 different people who have managed it in as many years...

Seriously, you want me to go thru 13,000 entries line by line and "fix" zip codes (they need a hyphen) and email addresses that have been fucked up since 1993.... No Bitch... If you want that sh!t done get yourself an assistant and have their ass do it... Sorry about the language, but she has been trying to add more and more and more of her publications duties to my plate. Hell, my name isn't even listed on the staff page!

And here's a thought maybe if you had the same sense of urgency with the 10 other people who managed this before me, it wouldn't be in such bad shape. 6%... That's how much of "me" you get...  That averages out to about 2.5 hours A WEEK...

It just makes me so mad because I'm so laid back and helpful, but it pisses me off when people try to take advantage..... Now I see why nobody is ever "available" when she calls...  WOOOOOSAAAAHHHHHH.... Rant over lol...

    Sorry to hear that.

I often disagree with how to do things at my job. In the end I just have to bite my tongue.

Do you have to do what the editor in cheif is asking you to do?

That's what I dont really know... I haven't ever really told her "No" for any of her requests.... I just "make it work" as overwhelmed as it may make me.

But it's to the point where I cant manage my regular work because she is constantly asking me to help her out with stuff.

I'm debating if I should tell her that I don't have the time, or tell my boss that she is overwhelming me with requests...

Coming to this mad late, but you should for sure say something. Tactfully, of course. Ask her something like, 'What would you suggest I put on the back-burner so I can get this done?' Hopefully, something like that will clue her in that you can't do it all. And maybe it'll click that you're not superhuman, and the other stuff is more important.
