Not Engaged Yet

Interesting date plan for Monday - Inspire me!!

Sooo . . . most of you know that BF and I have been talking for quite some time about getting engaged/married/etc.  He hasn't been quite ready just yet BUT, if you remember, we went to a jewelry store when we were in Kauai and looked at engagement rings.  Since then we've talked about rings a bit more and decided we wanted to check out the diamond district in LA.  So that's what we're doing on Monday. SQUEE!!!  I'm trying my hardest not to get too excited but it's really hard not to.  We're leaving the option open to buy or not to buy, depending on what we find.  And, no matter what, I feel like we'll have a fun, different day-date.  (um, but I really, really would love to find the ring!!)

So, here's what I have in mind, at least in my dreams . . . . basically a cushion cut with a halo-type setting.  No clue if I'll find that so I'm hoping you girls can inspire me and show me some pics of other rings I might like.  Ready, set, GO!!

    That's a really pretty ring!

I, personally, did not want to be there when FI bought the ring.  When the jeweler started talking about a down payment and lay away options, I stepped away from the counter with my hands up (literally) and said something like I didn't want to be there when he bought it.  He went back a week or so later and put the initial payment on it.

Do you like split shank?  Oh, and I definitely didn't like what I thought I would like after trying things on.

    This is gorge!

Oooo - those are both gorgeous!!  I haven't thought about a split shank but I'll look at trying at least one of those on.  I want to have a few options in mind.  I really have no idea what I'll feel like if we actually decide on one but I definitely will let him handle the "transaction" part of it!!

[QUOTE]Where is that first ring you posted from? So pretty!

I found it on Pinterest as a link from StyleMePretty - a blog.  Really wish I knew more about it!  I was thinking of printing that out and bringing it along with me.

I'm a big fan of the cushion halo style, obviously, since that's what I have.

I love the one you posted, but definitely keep an open mind.

Rings so far are gorgeous... I'm a fan of oval rings. They are classic but unique like cushions.

Gorgeous! I like the split shank a lot, but can't do it because of how small my fingers are and how much space I have on my finger for a ring. :(

The one you posted is absolutely gorgeous though :)

[QUOTE]In Response to Re: Interesting date plan for Monday - Inspire me!! : Maybe that's what it was about the split shank that turned me off.  I think I was worried that the design would be lost on the side of my fingers.  The reason my ring works so well is because the two side stones are small enough that there is room to see the tiny diamonds on the band with the milgrain detail.

Yeah, that definitely makes sense!<div>And I know we talked about little hands before, but your ring looks gorgeous on your hand! It doesn't crowd it or look too large.</div><div>
</div><div>When BF and I looked at rings I noticed some rings made my hand look crowded, or larger ct. sizes did too.</div><div>

Yay Meg!!!!!!!! You SHOULD be excited by the way, I don't think there is anything wrong with getting excited about looking at e-rings with your BF at all. I think it'd be weird if you weren't super excited.  When Sean asked me if I wanted to go look at rings I said of course & when he took Lucy out for a walk a few minutes later I called my mom and squeeeeeeeeeed LOL

Have you tried that style on yet? Before we looked I thought I wanted a princess cut, simple solitaire.  When I tried it on though I really didn't like it on me & I kept thinking about the rings with halos & I knew I loved cushion cut.  Luckily that is exactly what I ended up with :)

    YAY!!!

Hahahaaa!!  I'm using BF's computer to type this since mine is still getting fixed and he totally just "caught" me replying to this post.  He's so cute though - kind of makes fun of me for being on here because, of course, he doesn't get it!  But he thinks it's cute.

ANYWAY, I have tried on a halo before but not with a cushion.  When we very first starting talking rings we looked at a couple that were round diamonds with the halo pave thing around them and I liked those.  The round diamonds are so much more spendy that the cushion ones though and the cushions really seem to provide the same overall look with the halo setting.  So I'm hoping I like it in person.  BF is also a big fan of the cathedral type sides because he feels like it would be more "secure" since I'm so active.

I will totally take pics and post them when we get back from the diamon district next Monday.  Soooo excited!!!!
