Hey coastie! Thank you so much for checking in, I did go out to my school today to do
"open walk in evaluation" as they call it; unfortunately I can't get in to see someone til Friday (apparently I'm not the only one in need of counseling) but it felt good to take the first step. I am feeling much better and Mike has been communicating with me a lot more. Also, as Desert mentioned, I did change Dr.'s as well.

It's hard to change psychiatrists (I don't like mine and without insurance can't afford to see him right now). The area I live in is EXTREMELY short on them. I spent an entire calling every single one and only TWO were accepting new patients and the earliest appointment was 2.5 months from then. It's ridiculous.

Please excuse my rant, lol... thank you for caring again, I hope all is well with you!

Awww, Dreamer.  I'm sorry to hear that.  I know how difficult finding a GOOD therapist can be.  Have you thought about maybe finding a therapist that's a bit further away and arranging to have phone sessions every other week to compensate for the distance?  Just a thought.

I'm glad you made a first step!

For what it's worth, I loved the counselor I saw at CMU when I was going through a tough spot.  Unfortunately there they had a cap on how many free appointments you could get (5) but, that was enough to pull me out of where I was at the time.

I know here there are places around here you can go for reduced rates through the county health department, maybe they have something like that in your area?  I wish you the best of luck through this, I know it's rough, but you seem like a pretty strong woman...you can do it.

I googled for you and they might have some info here: link or link.  If I remember correctly we used some of those resources when I lived in Cleveland.

Thank you for the great advice, shoes and PPE. I never thought about phone appointments but that is a really good idea! I don't really care about my psychiatrist, too much. He just wrote my med scipts and that was it. My family doctor does them now.

Those are great links PPE! I will for sure look into them because it definitely hard to find good mental health care. The sucky part is, I worked in mental health til July so I'm aware of the resources and how poor some of them are. Glad you got help for your rough spot - I didn't even know colleges offered these types of things - but that sucks the cap was 5.

WS will do 12 for free then it's $5 for each session after that. Not too bad. I'm excited to talk to someone! You ladies are such a great and helpful support system :::hugs:::

You could also try going to an Al-Anon meeting...everyone is welcome at the meetings, no questions asked.  I had a friend in one of my meetings that came not only because her husband was a gambler, but her therapist had suggested it for some issues she was going through and no one in the meeting had any problem with her being there.  If it's not for you, you haven't lost anything but an hour of your time.

    Good Luck sweetie!

Thanks Angie - I honestly never, ever thought of that! I know tons of people that have gone and really gotten a lot out of it.

I'm looking up meetings as we speak. :)
